Meet at “Macedonia” Airport on Monday at 1:30 p.m., meet your tour guide, and depart on a direct Aegean flight to Dubrovnik. Upon arrival, we’ll head straight out to explore the Dalmatian coast, with our first stop in Cavtat, one of the most charming coastal villages in southern Croatia. Built on a lush green peninsula, Cavtat combines crystal-clear waters, picturesque alleys, and a lovely seaside promenade. We continue on to Neum and our hotel. Check-in, dinner, and time for an evening stroll through the cosmopolitan seaside resort.
We enjoy a hearty breakfast at the hotel, and our day is dedicated to Dubrovnik. We begin our guided tour of Dubrovnik, often referred to as “the jewel of the Adriatic.” We’ll walk through the old town, which is surrounded by 10th-century walls, visiting the locations where scenes from Game of Thrones were filmed. We’ll visit the Franciscan Monastery, the Cathedral, the Old Port, and the Church of St. Blaise. We’ll continue with a visit to the nearby islet of Lokrum, a paradise on earth with botanical gardens and a medieval Benedictine monastery. We also recommend taking the cable car to the top of Srdj, where the view is breathtaking. For lunch, we suggest a mountain buggy ride through the hills above the city, a route offering incredible views and historical significance from the 1991 war. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.
Today we recommend a wonderful optional excursion to two famous cities. Our first stop is medieval Trogir (a city-island-museum), designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. We’ll admire St. Lawrence Cathedral and the Radovan Gate. Next, we’ll visit picturesque Split, the largest city in Dalmatia. We will see the massive Palace of Diocletian, the Cathedral, and the Gothic Town Hall. We will have time to explore the city’s beautiful waterfront, the famous Riva. Late in the afternoon, we will return to the hotel.
Breakfast and departure for a day trip. Our first stop is medieval Mostar, where East meets West on the banks of the Neretva River. The city’s landmark is the famous arched bridge. We’ll wander through the bazaars and alleyways with their Ottoman atmosphere. We continue on to the famous Kravice Waterfalls. The waters of the Trebižat River plunge 25 meters into a lake perfect for swimming. Late in the afternoon, we return to our hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel and time for a final stroll through Neum. Transfer to the airport for the return flight with Aegean, having captured memories and experiences from the most beautiful parts of the Dalmatian coast.
