Thessaloniki "Macedonia" Airport (Google Maps)
We’ll meet at “Macedonia” Airport and depart for the City of 100 Spires. Upon arrival in Prague, and after receiving some initial useful information from our tour guide, we’ll begin our tour of the historic city center to discover why it’s considered by many to be one of Europe’s most beautiful capitals. This beautiful city, built on the banks of the Vltava River in the heart of Bohemia, is aptly called the “Golden City” and the “Mother of Cities.” It is no coincidence that since 1992, Prague’s historic center has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our tour begins at Republic Square, where we’ll see the impressive Prague City Hall, built in the Art Nouveau style, as well as the Gothic Powder Tower. Next, we’ll head to the famous Wenceslas Square, with its imposing National Museum and the significant historic buildings that surround it. On the way to Old Town Square, we’ll pass the historic Estates Theater, where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart first performed the opera *Don Giovanni*. In Old Town Square, we’ll admire the famous Prague Astronomical Clock, the Church of Our Lady before Týn with its distinctive towers, known as Adam and Eve, the Church of St. Nicholas, and the historic medieval Town Hall. Next, we’ll pass through the elegant Paris Street, one of the city’s most aristocratic avenues, and the famous Jewish Quarter, where we’ll see the Old-New Synagogue, one of the most important monuments of Prague’s Jewish history. There will be free time for coffee, shopping, and dining in the historic center. Afterward, check-in at the hotel and rest. In the evening, you can dine at traditional Czech beer halls, sampling local specialties, such as the famous pork knuckle, accompanied by locally brewed Czech beer, or enjoy the unique atmosphere at one of the city’s renowned jazz clubs. Our guide will be at your disposal to provide any necessary information.
Breakfast at the hotel, then departure for today’s guided tour, which begins with two of Prague’s most important sites: the historic Strahov Monastery and the impressive Loreto, one of the country’s most popular pilgrimage sites. We’ll continue with a tour of Prague’s imposing Castle District, the famous Hradčany, which dominates the hill above Malá Strana and is one of Europe’s most significant historical complexes. We’ll see the Renaissance Schwarzenberg Palace, the Old Royal Palace—once the residence of the kings of Bohemia—as well as the imposing St. Vitus Cathedral, a prime example of Gothic architecture and a spiritual symbol of the country. There we’ll also find the Chapel of St. Wenceslas, patron saint of Bohemia. We’ll also pass by the Romanesque Church of St. George and the historic palaces where the Bohemian rulers once resided. Descending toward the charming Malá Strana, one of Prague’s oldest historic districts, we’ll admire the imposing Baroque Church of St. Nicholas from the outside and continue our walk through the area’s picturesque alleyways. Next, we’ll cross the legendary Charles Bridge, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. In 1170, King Vladislav II built the first stone bridge over the Vltava River, the Judith Bridge, which was destroyed by a flood in 1342. Charles Bridge was later built on its foundations, and we’ll walk across it while enjoying a unique view of the river, the historic buildings, and the city’s towers. Following a wonderful route along the so-called “Royal Route” and through the picturesque alleys of the Old Town, we’ll arrive at Prague’s famous Astronomical Clock. Afterward, there will be free time for strolling, shopping, or enjoying a coffee in the historic center. Those who wish can take part in an unforgettable optional cruise on the Vltava River. As the boat glides along the river, Prague’s bridges, palaces, and historic buildings unfold before us, offering a unique and particularly atmospheric view of the city. During the cruise, you can enjoy a lavish buffet lunch featuring main courses, desserts, and fruit. In the evening, and always with the help of our experienced guide, we recommend—though it’s optional—that you attend a performance at Prague’s famous Black Light Theater. This is a unique artistic experience, where the interplay of light and darkness, movement, colors, and imagination create a magical world that captivates every audience member.
Breakfast at the hotel and, for those who wish, departure for a wonderful optional day trip to Dresden, the capital of Saxony in eastern Germany. Also known as the “Florence of the North,” Dresden stands out for its impressive architecture, artistic tradition, and unique historical journey. The first impression the city makes can be summed up in two words: beauty and reverence. Beauty for the imposing monuments, elegant squares, and stately buildings that adorn its historic center, and respect for a city that suffered immense destruction during World War II and was impressively reborn, preserving its historic character. The famous Semperoper Opera House, one of Europe’s most renowned opera houses, dominates the central Theaterplatz square. Nearby, we’ll admire the impressive Zwinger, one of Germany’s most recognizable Baroque complexes, which houses important art collections. There we’ll find works by great artists such as Raphael, Giorgione, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Rubens, as well as works associated with the European painting tradition. Particularly striking is the famous mural *Fürstenzug*, the “Procession of the Princes,” made of porcelain tiles, depicting the rulers of Saxony, including Augustus the Strong. We’ll also see the iconic Frauenkirche, a symbol of the city and its rebirth, which was rebuilt after its destruction and is now one of Dresden’s most important landmarks. There will be free time for lunch, coffee, and shopping in the historic city center, so you can enjoy the pace and atmosphere of the Saxon capital. Return to Prague in the afternoon. Overnight stay.
Breakfast at the hotel and, for those who wish, departure for an optional day trip straight out of a fairy tale. We’ll head south to Český Krumlov, one of the most beautiful cities in the Czech Republic, located in the South Bohemia region. The town has been listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1992, and rightly so, as its unique atmosphere, its well-preserved medieval architecture, and its fairy-tale-like appearance enchant every visitor. The historic town stretches along the meanders of the Vltava River, creating one of the country’s most distinctive and frequently photographed landscapes. Towering above the town is the imposing complex of Krumlov Castle and Tower, once the seat of the powerful House of Rosenberg. From there, the view of the red rooftops, the cobblestone alleys, and the river is truly enchanting. During our tour, we’ll admire the elegant Renaissance Town Hall from the outside, St. Vitus Church, and the beautiful historic buildings that make up the city’s unique character. Of particular interest is the castle’s famous Baroque theater, one of the best-preserved of its kind in Europe, as well as the Baroque gardens that complement the complex’s aristocratic appearance. Český Krumlov is also linked to the legends and traditions of South Bohemia. Among them, the legend of the “White Lady” stands out; according to tradition, she appears in the castles and towers associated with the House of Rosenberg, adding even more charm to the region’s mystical atmosphere. You’ll have time to wander through the picturesque alleyways, enjoy a coffee or a meal at one of the traditional restaurants, and let time transport you to another era. Return to Prague in the afternoon. Overnight stay.
Breakfast at the hotel and some free time for a final stroll through downtown Prague. Next, we’ll set off on a lovely excursion to the famous Karlovy Vary in western Bohemia. During the approximately two-hour drive, we’ll have the pleasure of enjoying the characteristic landscapes of western Bohemia, such as hop fields, the raw material for the famous Czech beer, as well as sections of the renowned Bohemian forests. Upon arriving at the world-famous spa town, built in the lush green valley of the small Tepla River, we’ll discover a town renowned for its thermal springs and its elegant atmosphere. Karlovy Vary was founded in the 14th century by Emperor Charles IV and, over the centuries, has served as a meeting place for prominent figures in literature, the arts, and politics, such as Tsar Peter I of Russia, Maria Theresa, Goethe, Schiller, Bach, and Beethoven. Beyond being a renowned spa town, the city is also known for its famous Bohemian crystal. We’ll stroll through the elegant colonnaded arcades, see the impressive springs, and enjoy a unique combination of natural beauty, spa tradition, and architectural elegance. Karlovy Vary is also known for its International Film Festival, as well as for the traditional Czech liqueur Becherovka. There will be free time to eat at one of the local restaurants, take a leisurely stroll, or shop for local products and souvenirs. And so our beautiful getaway to Prague and the Czech Republic comes to an end, filled with sights, experiences, and the best memories of the enchanting “Golden City.” Transfer to the airport and return flight.
