Field Trip Itinerary

DAY 1FLIGHT TO FRANKFURT - GUIDED TOUR - RÜDESHEIM AM RHEIN - HEIDELBERG

Meet at “Macedonia” Airport at 6:00 a.m. and depart on a direct flight to Frankfurt. Arrival in Europe’s “economic capital.” We will visit the city center to begin our guided tour. We will explore its history and most important landmarks, the historic Römerberg district, and the Römer. Of particular importance are the elegant Imperial Hall (Kaisersaal), the New City Hall, the Gothic Church of St. Leonhard, and the bridge over the Main River with its epic inscription. Next, we will visit nearby Rüdesheim. We will walk along the Oberstrasse pedestrian street with its impressive noble residences and the city’s liveliest street, Drosselgasse. Time for lunch with local wine, followed by departure for Heidelberg. Arrival in the afternoon, check-in at the hotel, and free time.

DAY 2HEIDELBERG - CITY TOUR - NEKAR RIVER

Breakfast in the fairytale town of Heidelberg, built on the banks of the Neckar River. We’ll stroll through its historic center, along Hauptstrasse, Germany’s longest pedestrian street. We’ll admire churches such as the Church of the Holy Spirit and the Jesuit Church, the “student prison,” the “witches’ tower,” the Zum Ritter Hotel, and the Old Bridge (Altebrücke). Those who wish can walk along the famous Philosophers’ Path (Philosophenweg). The Castle dominates the hill, offering the best view of the city. Free time in the historic center at noon.

DAY 3HEIDELBERG - BADEN-BADEN - STRASBOURG - CITY TOUR - CRUISE ON THE ILL RIVER

Breakfast and departure for Baden-Baden, the famous spa town of the Black Forest, known for its thermal baths and historic casino. We continue on to the unique city of Strasbourg. We will tour the historic center "Petite France" (UNESCO), see the Cathedral of Our Lady, the astronomical clock, and the Roan Tower. Free time at noon. In the afternoon, we recommend a cruise on the Ill River to enjoy a panoramic view of the city, the covered bridges, and the European Parliament buildings.

DAY 4STRASBOURG - WINE ROUTE - RICKWIR - EGGISCHEM - COLMAR

A tour of the famous wine villages of Alsace. Our first stop is Riquewihr, with its 16th-century architecture and Riesling wine production. We continue to Colmar, the wine capital, with its wooden houses lining the canals. Our final destination is Eguisheim, built in concentric circles around the octagonal castle, with its flower-lined alleys and stork nests. We return to Strasbourg in the late afternoon.

DAY 5STRASBOURG - DUCHY OF LUXEMBOURG

Free day or optional excursion to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The capital is situated at the confluence of the Alzette and Pétrix rivers. We will see the medieval walls, the Cathedral, the Ducal Palace, and the European Quarter. Free time to stroll through the old fortified city and the market before returning to Strasbourg.

DAY 6STRASBOURG – BLACK FOREST – FREIBURG – LAKE TITISE – RETURN FLIGHT

Departure for the Black Forest. Stop in Freiburg, the “environmental capital of Europe.” We will admire the Gothic cathedral, the historic Koifhus, and the city hall. We continue to Lake Titisee, in the heart of the Black Forest. Transfer to Stuttgart Airport for the return flight.
