Centered around historic Messolonghi, we’ll explore regions of deep cultural and national significance, such as Nafpaktos, Kalavryta, and Agia Lavra, while also enjoying the unique beauty of the Ambracian Gulf, the lagoons, and the picturesque landscapes of the region. We’ll depart from our offices at 6:30 a.m. Traveling via the Egnatia and Ionian Highways, with the necessary stops along the way for coffee, we’ll arrive in Arta. We’ll visit the famous Arta Bridge, known for its unique architecture and the legend of its master builder. Next, we’ll head to the small island of Koronisia, in the Ambracian Gulf. The lush natural surroundings, the traditional fishing boats (priaria), the small islets, and the region’s distinctive landscape create a unique atmosphere. After a brief stop, we’ll depart for our next destination, the “bride of Amvrakikos,” Amfilochia, where we’ll have free time to stroll, enjoy a coffee, and have a meal. We continue to the Holy City of Messolonghi, known for the heroic exodus of the besieged in 1826. Arrival, check-in at the hotel, and time to rest. In the evening, free time in the central square. Overnight stay.
Breakfast and a guided tour of the city of Messolonghi. Our first stop is City Hall, which also serves as a museum, housing important manuscripts, paintings, maps, pages from Meyer’s *Greek Chronicles*, as well as manuscripts by Lord Byron. Next, we’ll visit the imposing Garden of Heroes, a site of special historical and emotional significance, as well as the little church of Agia Paraskevi and the region’s famous lagoons. Departure for Aitoliko, a small island in the lagoon, also known as the “Little Venice” of Greece. Free time for sightseeing and coffee. Next stop is the beautiful Nafpaktos, with its picturesque Venetian harbor and well-preserved castle. Free time for a stroll and lunch. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay.
Breakfast and departure for historic Kalavryta. After crossing the Rio–Antirrio Bridge, we head toward Diakopto, following a beautiful route through lush green landscapes with views of the impressive Vouraikos Valley. Arrival in picturesque Kalavryta and a visit to the historic Monastery of Agia Lavra, a symbol of the Greek Revolution, where in 1821 the banner of the Struggle was raised by Germanos of Old Patras. Free time for lunch on your own and a stroll through the town’s traditional center. On the way back, we’ll visit the impressive Great Cave, built into the rock—a unique religious and historical monument set in a majestic natural setting. Return to Messolonghi. Overnight stay.
Breakfast and departure for Preveza. We’ll visit the impressive fortress of Agios Andreas and stroll along the pedestrian street with the Venetian clock near the city’s cathedral. Free time for a stroll and coffee. We’ll continue on to the beautiful city of Ioannina, where we’ll have time to tour the city and enjoy the view of Lake Pamvotis. Departure for Thessaloniki with the necessary stops along the way. Arrival in the evening, filled with beautiful memories and experiences.
