We’ll meet in the morning at “Macedonia” Airport and take a direct flight to Malta. Upon arrival, we’ll begin our tour of the Three Cities (Cospicua, Segla, Vittoriosa). Vittoriosa was the first capital of the Knights of St. John. We will admire the Grand Harbour, the medieval alleys, the Inquisition building, and the Execution Square. Transfer and check-in at the hotel in St. Julian’s. In the evening, the area and neighboring Sliema offer countless options for restaurants and bars.
After breakfast, we depart for Valletta, the fortified capital city—a true gem. The tour takes place on foot in the Old Town. We’ll visit the Barraka Gardens with their panoramic view of the harbor, and stroll down Triq Ir-Repubblika with its vintage shops and golden-hued buildings. The highlight of the day is St. John’s Cathedral, home to Caravaggio’s masterpieces: “The Beheading of St. John the Baptist” and “St. Jerome.”
Today we explore the center of the island. We visit the Cathedral of Mosta with its enormous dome and Ta’ Ali National Park to watch glassblowers at work. We continue on to magical Mdina, the old capital. It is a walled city with Baroque and Arabic elements, where the tranquility is captivating. The day ends in the town of Attard with the beautiful St. Anthony’s Gardens and the Presidential Palace.
Free day or optional excursion to the lush island of Gozo. Board the ferry and visit Rabat with its imposing castle, as well as the picturesque fishing village of Xlendi. We’ll have time for lunch with a view of the sea and return in the late afternoon.
Before departure, we’ll visit the traditional fishing village of Marsaxlokk. We’ll admire the colorful Luzzu boats with the “Eye of Osiris” on their bows and enjoy a final coffee at the harbor. Transfer to the airport for the return flight.
