Follow in the dragon’s footsteps…

If you’re looking for a trip that’s not just a “vacation,” but an experience that will transform you, then China is the ultimate destination! You don’t come here just to see—you come to experience. Instead of simply admiring sights, you choose to discover yourself amid ancient dynasties, sacred mountains, and landscapes that look like living paintings. If you’re the kind of person who loves to be on the move and isn’t put off by long hours of travel, then keep reading—you might be interested in joining us on this adventure.

We’ll start in enchanting Guilin, where nature has shown its finest side. We’ll walk along the “Stairway to Heaven” among the golden rice terraces of Longji and let ourselves be carried away by the serenity of the Li River, nestled among breathtaking karst hills. What follows is a scene straight out of a fairy tale… We board the Bullet Train to Fenghuang, the City of the Phoenix with its illuminated wooden houses along the river, and discover Furong, a village that literally hangs over a rushing waterfall, reminding us of the old, authentic China.

And when the horizons open up, Zhangjiajie surpasses all imagination. The “floating” rocks that inspired the movie Avatar, the glass bridges over the void, and nature’s stone giants will make you wonder if you’re actually still on planet Earth. Our journey continues to Chengdu to see the pandas up close, but also to experience the more laid-back side of everyday Chinese life that thrives in the heart of this vast metropolis.

We’ll take the high-speed train to Xi’an, where history stretches back centuries. Standing before the Terracotta Army of the First Emperor, you’ll grasp the meaning of eternity, while on the walls of the old city you’ll hear the echoes of the Silk Road. The journey culminates in Beijing, where tradition meets the future. From the Great Wall, towering majestically over the mountain peaks, to the Forbidden City, history comes alive at every turn. This getaway to China is more than just a check-in… It’s an unlocking of history, nature, and—without a trace of exaggeration—your very existence. Set aside the Wi-Fi and the likes, because here, the connection runs much deeper. This getaway to China isn’t just a simple check-in… It’s a gateway to history, nature, and—without a hint of exaggeration—your very own existence. Join us!

Field Trip Itinerary

DAY 1October 20 | Departure for China

Those of us who share the same madness—the kind that keeps us constantly on the move and drives us to discover, to lose ourselves, and ultimately to redefine who we are—meet at the airport. China is a place where daily life moves at bullet-train speeds, while at the same time its culture unfolds thousands of years of tradition. It’s an experience that transports you from 2026 back to 2,200 B.C. in just a few hours. Before you even realize it, you’ll be enjoying tea alongside elderly people playing mahjong in the park, and a little later you’ll be standing on glass bridges suspended 300 meters above the ground, wondering, “Where on earth am I?” Get ready for a journey full of contrasts.

DAY 2October 21 | Arrival in Guilin - Yao Mountain

After the long flights, we land in the tropical south of China. After arriving and checking into the hotel, we first take a much-needed breather to shake off the stress of the trip and freshen up. Next, we begin our first exploration of the city by ascending Yao Mountain. The cable car takes us to the summit of the region’s highest point, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of the endless “sea” of karst hills surrounding Guilin. In the afternoon, feeling refreshed, we take a walk around Shanhu Lake, where the impressive Sun and Moon Pagodas stand out. The route is peaceful and flat, ideal for unwinding and getting a taste of Chinese aesthetics as the first lights come on. As night falls, we continue on to Zhengyang Pedestrian Street and historic Dongxi Lane, where you might enjoy a cold Tsingtao beer while watching the city come to life. We return to the hotel, our minds filled with images and ready for the hike up to the Longji Rice Terraces the next day.

DAY 3October 22 | Longji Rice Terraces - Huangluo Yao Village

After breakfast, we leave the city behind and set off on a roughly two-and-a-half-hour drive to the legendary Longji Rice Terraces. There, human determination has carved the mountain for over eight centuries, creating a breathtaking landscape. Our first stop is the village of Huangluo at the foot of the mountain, the homeland of the women of the Red Yao tribe. They are famous for their striking, jet-black hair, which exceeds two meters in length, symbolizing good fortune and longevity. After getting a close-up look at the traditions and customs of this unique tribe, we’ll drive for a few minutes to the base of the rice terraces, where an impressive experience awaits us. To save time and enjoy the view from above without the effort of climbing the stairs, we board the cable car that takes us to the top of the hills. As we float above the countless rows of terraces, we see the landscape unfold beneath our feet like a living, three-dimensional map. Upon reaching the highest vantage point, the summit of the “Golden Buddha,” the panoramic view is mesmerizing, revealing the vast expanse of rice paddies that resemble giant steps leading up to the sky. From there, we now have plenty of time to wander along the trails at the summit and take photos. Filled with the serenity and grandeur of the Chinese countryside, we return to the hotel to rest.

DAY 4October 23 | Cruise on the Li River - Yangshuo

Today, after breakfast, we’re heading to one of the landscapes that have made China famous around the world… The Li River and the fairytale-like town of Yangshuo. We’re setting out on a four-hour cruise on the Li River, an experience that feels like stepping into a living Chinese painting. As the boat glides across the calm waters, imposing karst hills with strange shapes—which have inspired legends for centuries—rise up around us, while on the banks we see water buffalo cooling off and fishermen with cormorants on narrow bamboo rafts. It’s time to relax on the deck and let yourself be carried away by the serenity of the landscape, passing landmarks such as the “Hill of Nine Horses,” until we reach picturesque Yangshuo. By noon, we find ourselves stepping into another world, where nature and tradition become one. Our first stop is West Street, the town’s oldest street with a history spanning 1,400 years, which is bustling with life, colors, and scents, offering the perfect opportunity to browse the little shops and sample local delicacies. In the afternoon, the experience becomes even more authentic with a leisurely stroll through the Yangshuo countryside, amid lush green rice paddies and the lacy hills reflected in the Yulong River. Our day comes to a perfect close in the evening with the optional but breathtaking “Impression Liu Sanjie” show, an open-air spectacle featuring hundreds of performers that unfolds right on the river itself, under the stars, bringing our journey through the South to a close in the most magical way.

DAY 5October 24 | Fenghuang

We’re heading to the station to board the direct Bullet Train to Fenghuang. The six-hour journey gives us time to relax as the Chinese countryside passes by outside our window. We arrive in the “City of the Phoenix,” where the illuminated wooden houses and stone bridges create a scene straight out of a fairy tale.

DAY 6October 25 | Fenghuang

After breakfast, while the fog still envelops the Tuojiang River, we begin our stroll through Fenghuang. We’ll have the chance to lose ourselves in the stone-paved alleys, watch the locals start their day along the riverbanks, and capture the traditional architecture reflected in the still waters. If you’d like, you can optionally don the traditional costume of the Miao ethnic group and have your photo taken, creating memories that blend seamlessly with the historic backdrop. At night, the city glows under the lights, offering the perfect finale before our departure tomorrow.

Get ready for a breathtaking experience: we’ll walk along the trails that wind behind the curtain of water, feeling the power of the waterfall amid the traditional homes of the Tujia people. We leave the “City Above the Waterfall” and, after an hour-and-a-half drive, arrive at the iconic Zhangjiajie. Our day ends at the foot of the “Avatar” mountains, where we recharge our batteries for tomorrow’s exploration.

DAY 8October 27 | Bailong Sightseeing Elevator - Yuanjiajie Scenic Area - Tianzi

Our day begins with our arrival at the iconic Wulingyuan National Forest Park, where we board the impressive Bailong Elevator to ascend rapidly to the Yuanjiajie area. There, we’ll see the legendary “Stone Giants” from Avatar and the world-famous Hallelujah Mountain, walking along the most beautiful panoramic trail the area has to offer before our rapid descent on the Tianzi Mountain cable car. This day is packed with action and breathtaking scenery that will leave a lasting impression on you. At noon, we’ll drive to the Grand Canyon, giving us a chance to catch our breath before our afternoon adventure on the Glass Bridge. We’ll walk across the transparent floor of this engineering marvel, enjoying the breathtaking view of the canyon from a height of 300 meters and taking the most impressive photos of our trip. As the day draws to a close, we’ll head to Zhangjiajie for the night.

DAY 9October 28 | Tianmen Mountain - Tianmen Cave - Heaven’s Gate - Chengdi

After breakfast, you’ll begin your exploration of Tianmen Mountain, one of the region’s most famous natural attractions. You’ll board the world’s longest cable car to ascend the mountain, enjoying spectacular views of the lush green forests and sheer cliffs along the way. At the summit, you’ll walk along picturesque trails and glass walkways before visiting the impressive Tianmen Cave, also known as the Gate of Heaven. To reach the cave, you’ll descend the famous 999 Heavenly Steps, a steep staircase leading to this remarkable natural arch high in the mountains. After the tour, you’ll be transferred to the station to take the bullet train to Chengdu. Once we arrive, we’ll head to the hotel to rest after an unforgettable day.

DAY 10October 29 | Chengdu Panda Base - People’s Park - Jinli Ancient Street - Sichuan

After breakfast, we’ll start with a visit to the Chengdu Panda Base, where you’ll have the chance to see up close the beloved giant pandas, these adorable and rare animals that are a symbol of China. You’ll enjoy the unique experience of observing the pandas in their natural habitat and learning more about their conservation. As you head back to the city center, a stop at People’s Park reveals the art of taking your time… Locals play mahjong, drink tea, chat, and enjoy their day in perfect harmony with the space and time around them. At noon, we take a stroll down Jinli Ancient Street, a picturesque street lined with traditional mansions and street vendors, while right next door stands the Wuhou Temple, which transports you back to the era of the Three Kingdoms and legendary Chinese military strategy. The afternoon and evening are all about gastronomy. Nothing is more characteristic than trying the famous Sichuan hotpot, with its spicy broth, fiery peppers, and all sorts of ingredients that you cook right there on the spot. If you like, you can take a nighttime stroll through the alleys of Taikoo Li to experience the city’s modern vibe. In just a single day, Chengdu offers you the chance to experience Chinese culture not only with your eyes, but with all your senses. If you’d like, you can end your day with a performance of traditional Sichuan Opera, featuring the unique art of face-changing.

DAY 11October 30 | Leshan Giant Buddha

Today is dedicated to one of China’s most impressive monuments. We’ll depart from Chengdu and arrive in Leshan in about 1.5 hours, where the iconic Leshan Giant Buddha is located. It is the tallest rock-carved Buddha in the world, standing 71 meters high and carved into the side of a mountain where three rivers meet. The view is truly awe-inspiring. You can admire it either by walking along the path that leads down to its feet, or by taking a boat ride on the river, which offers a panoramic view of the entire sculpture. Beyond the statue itself, the area features beautiful trails and photo spots with breathtaking views. It’s an experience that combines nature, history, and spirituality, and it’s sure to be unforgettable.

DAY 12October 31 | Xi’an

Imagine Xi'an as a time machine that transports you straight to the heart of ancient China. The Silk Road wasn’t just a road—it was humanity’s first “internet.” It began right in Xi’an (then called Chang’an) and connected China with the Mediterranean and Rome. Caravans of thousands of camels would leave the city gates laden with silk, spices, porcelain, and tea, and return with gold, glass, and new religions (such as Buddhism and Islam). Today, this legacy lives on in Xi’an’s Muslim Quarter, where the descendants of those merchants still cook using recipes influenced by Central Asia. As soon as we arrive at the airport and settle in, we’ll head toward the city center. We’ll stop at the iconic Bell Tower, which stands at the geographical center of the city, and begin exploring the surrounding area. The Muslim Quarter is the perfect place to spend the first few hours. There, you’ll see locals kneading flatbread and grilling spicy skewers seasoned with cumin. You can try the famous Rujiamo, the Chinese “burger” with slow-cooked meat, which is the ultimate street food of the area. Next, a visit to the Pagoda of Mikri Agriokhina will offer you the tranquility you need, as its gardens are a haven of peace amid the hustle and bustle of the big city. In the afternoon, the city’s most magical experience awaits you. The Ancient Walls of Xi’an are among the few in the world that have survived intact, and walking along them as the sun sets is an experience that cannot be put into words. The city lights begin to come on, the gates are bathed in a deep red glow, and the contrast between two thousand years of history and modern-day China creates a scene that leaves you spellbound, confirming that the adventure has only just begun.

DAY 13November 1 | Xi'an - Terracotta Army - Beijing

Xi'an, one of China's oldest cities and the historic capital of 13 dynasties, is a living museum of Chinese history. It is world-renowned for the Terracotta Army, one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of the 20th century. After breakfast, we’ll travel about 40 kilometers outside the city center to visit the famous Terracotta Army. The Terracotta Army was created as part of the grand tomb of China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, with the purpose of protecting and serving him even after his death. The emperor believed in immortality and wanted to ensure his safety in the Underworld, so he ordered the creation of thousands of terracotta soldiers, horses, and chariots depicting an entire military corps, ready to defend him and maintain his power in the afterlife.

DAY 14November 2 | Great Wall of China

You’ll start your day with an unforgettable visit to the majestic Great Wall of China, the country’s most iconic monument and one of the world’s greatest architectural wonders. As you walk along the imposing walls that stretch for kilometers across the mountains and valleys, you’ll enjoy the breathtaking views and feel the weight of history carried by this monument, which was built to protect the empire from invasions. The ascent is a breeze via the cable car, offering you a panoramic “flight” over the slopes. As you walk along the imposing walls that stretch for kilometers over the mountains and valleys, you’ll enjoy the breathtaking view and feel the weight of history carried by this monument, which was built to protect the empire from invasions. The descent from the Wall turns into a game. You hop on a hand-pulled toboggan and speed down the mountain slopes, controlling the pace of your descent all the way to the base. After your adventure, head out for a stroll through the picturesque Hutongs. As you walk through these historic narrow alleys of the old city, you’ll discover local delicacies and small markets with handicrafts and souvenirs that reflect the region’s traditions and culture.

DAY 15November 3 | Forbidden City - Return to Greece

Today, a guided tour of the Forbidden City—the former imperial residence and administrative center of the Ming and Qing dynasties—awaits you. As you wander through the magnificent courtyards, palaces, and gardens, you’ll be impressed by the architecture, art, and history that emanate from every corner of this palace-city. To round out your experience, you can also visit the National Museum of China, located near Tiananmen Square, where the collections spanning thousands of years of civilization offer a deeper understanding of Chinese heritage. As night falls, we head to the airport for our return flight.

Looking back, you realize that this trip wasn’t just a series of sights, but a journey into a world full of contrasts. From the futuristic skyscrapers of the big cities to the serenity of the ancient temples, and from the wild beauty of the Chinese countryside to the imperial palaces, every moment added a new piece to the puzzle of this unique country. We return with not only souvenirs in our luggage, but also breathtaking images and moments we shared with new friends. China bids us farewell, leaving us with hearts full of experiences and minds still wandering among the Great Wall and the hidden alleys of history. The journey ends here, but the adventure will remain etched in our hearts forever.
