Meet at "MAKEDONIA" Airport at 4:00 a.m., check-in, and flight with Aegean Airlines to Naples. After collecting our luggage, we’ll board the bus and, without wasting any time, head to one of the world’s most important archaeological sites, Pompeii. Built in the 5th century BC by the Greeks on the coast of Campania, at the foot of Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii was a vibrant and thriving city. On August 24, 79 AD, a catastrophic eruption of Vesuvius buried the city under a thick layer of ash. We will walk through its cobblestone streets, discovering the magic of a city frozen in time. By noon, we will be in Naples, in the historic center of this much-sung city. We will admire the Royal Palace, Santa Lucia, the famous Santa Chiara, the Opera House, the renowned Galleria Umberto covered market, Piazza del Plebiscito, and the imposing Cathedral (Duomo). After our tour of the historic center, you’ll have free time to enjoy an authentic Italian espresso or a traditional Neapolitan pizza. We’ll then head to our hotel to check in.
After a delightful breakfast at the hotel, we begin our day with a magical cruise on the Tyrrhenian Sea. From Marina Grande, we set sail for Positano, the jewel of the Amalfi Coast, which stretches amphitheatrically across the cliffs. We’ll have free time to explore its picturesque cobblestone streets. Next, we head to Amalfi, one of Europe’s most idyllic destinations. We’ll admire the elegant mansions and visit the imposing Cathedral of St. Andrew. We won’t miss the chance to try the famous Limoncello. In the afternoon, we return to Salerno, where we will tour the historic city center, see the Cathedral, the Church of the Annunziata, Arechi Castle, and Piazza Flavio Gioia with its imposing Porta Nova. We return to our hotel in the late afternoon.
Today you have the opportunity to spend your time in Naples at your own pace. Alternatively, you can join our optional speedboat excursion to the fairytale island of Capri, also known as “The Garden of Eden.” Capri captivates with its colorful houses, luxurious yachts, and crystal-clear turquoise waters. Roman villas, ancient statues, and winding staircases create a scene from another era. Visit to picturesque Anacapri and return to our hotel in the late afternoon.
Breakfast and departure for Rome. We begin our walking tour at the Piazza di Spagna, continuing on to the Trevi Fountain, the Palazzo Montecitorio, and the imposing Pantheon. We then head to Piazza Venezia, the city’s ground zero, and end up at the famous Colosseum. After checking in at the hotel, we invite you to join an optional night tour (Roma by Night). We’ll see Piazza Navona with the Fountain of the Four Rivers, the Campo de’ Fiori area, and end up in picturesque Trastevere for dinner or a drink on the banks of the Tiber.
After breakfast, we’ll visit the Capitoline Hill, the political and cultural heart of Rome. We’ll admire the panoramic view of the Roman Forum, the Capitoline Steps, the statues of the Dioscuri, and the equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius. Afterward, free time on the main street, Via del Corso, for last-minute shopping and strolling. Later, transfer to the airport for the return flight with Aegean.
