Thessaloniki "Macedonia" Airport (Google Maps)
Meet at "MAKEDONIA" Airport at 10:45 a.m., check-in, and flight to Naples. After collecting our luggage, we’ll board the bus and head to the historic center of this much-sung-about city—home to Pulcinella, tenor Enrico Caruso, Mount Vesuvius, pizza, and Sophia Loren. Starting from the picturesque waterfront, we’ll admire the Royal Palace, Santa Lucia with its castle, the famous Santa Chiara, the Opera House, the picturesque squares, the renowned Galleria Umberto covered market, Piazza del Plebiscito with the Church of St. Francis and the Palace, Spaccanapoli with its picturesque alleys, as well as the imposing Cathedral (Duomo). After our tour of the historic center, you’ll have free time to visit monuments and areas of personal interest, as well as to enjoy an authentic Italian espresso or a traditional Neapolitan pizza. We will then head to our hotel to check in. In the evening, we suggest strolling through the picturesque narrow streets of the historic center of Naples, the capital of Campania—a city brimming with passion, energy, vibrancy, charm, temperament, and art. Discover the region’s renowned cuisine while enjoying an ice-cold beer or a refreshing cocktail.
After enjoying a hearty breakfast, we will set off for one of the world’s most important archaeological sites, Pompeii. Founded in the 5th century BC by the Greeks on the coast of Campania, at the foot of Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii was a vibrant and thriving city with a population of 20,000–30,000. In 62 AD, a violent earthquake foreshadowed the disaster that was to follow. On August 24, 79 AD, a catastrophic eruption of Vesuvius buried the city under a thick layer of ash, bringing its life to an abrupt halt. Excavations have brought to light a city almost untouched by the ravages of time, revealing opulent villas with colorful murals, the marketplace, temples, theaters, arches, fountains, shops, and private residences. We will walk along its cobblestone streets, discovering the magic of a city frozen in time. Pompeii, a priceless piece of history, will captivate us with the details of the daily lives of its ancient inhabitants. Next, we’ll head to the enchanting Sorrento Peninsula. Along the way, we’ll stop at a wonderful spot with a panoramic view, perfect for photos, before arriving in the town of Sorrento. This picturesque town offers unique spots, museums, traditional and modern markets, as well as beautiful beaches for swimming. You’ll have free time to explore and enjoy the town’s unique atmosphere. Late in the afternoon, we’ll return to Naples, filled with memories and experiences from an unforgettable day.
A sunny summer day dawns, and we find ourselves in a wonderful, historic city. Today you have the opportunity to spend your time in Naples however you wish, exploring the city’s hidden corners at your own pace. Alternatively, you can join our optional excursion, which departs early in the morning by speedboat, offering us the chance to explore the fairytale island of Capri, also known as “The Garden of Eden.” According to Homer, Capri was the mythical island where the Sirens lived, who enchanted Odysseus with their song. Capri captivates its visitors with its picturesque, colorful houses, the luxurious yachts slicing through the crystal-clear turquoise waters, and its unique architecture. Roman villas, ancient statues, baths, churches, and staircases leading down to the sea create a scene from another era, enveloped in lush, colorful Mediterranean vegetation. On the island, we will also visit picturesque Anacapri. Late in the afternoon, we return to our hotel, filled with images and unforgettable experiences.
After a delightful breakfast at the hotel, we begin our day with a magical cruise on the Tyrrhenian Sea. From Marina Grande, we set sail for Positano, the jewel of the Amalfi Coast. This village, also known as the “terrace village,” stretches amphitheatrically across the cliffs, with its colorful houses gazing out over the endless blue. We’ll have free time to explore its picturesque cobblestone streets, admire its unique atmosphere, and lose ourselves in its charm. Next, we’ll head to Amalfi, one of the most idyllic destinations on the Amalfi Coast and one of Europe’s most stunning coastlines. During our walking tour, we’ll admire the town’s elegant mansions and visit the imposing Cathedral of Saint Andrew, a masterpiece that combines Byzantine, Arab, and Gothic architectural elements. Of course, we won’t miss the chance to taste the famous Limoncello, the region’s signature liqueur. In the afternoon, we return to Salerno, where we’ll tour the historic city center. Although it suffered severe damage from the 1980 earthquake, it retains its medieval character, with imposing monuments and picturesque squares. We will visit the Cathedral, built by the Norman prince Robert Guiscard, as well as the Church of the Annunziata, with its impressive Baroque bell tower. Additionally, we will explore Arechi Castle, the Church of S. Pietro a Corte, and Piazza Flavio Gioia—also known as the Rotonda due to its circular shape. Here stands the imposing Porta Nova, a monumental gate reconstructed in the 18th century. With our senses filled with the enchanting sights of the Amalfi Coast and the charm of Salerno, we return to our hotel in the late afternoon. Today has given us unforgettable experiences, rich in history, culture, and unique landscapes that will remain etched in our memories.
After a delicious breakfast, we’ll spend our last day in Naples, making the most of our time. We recommend visiting the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, one of the world’s most important museums, where impressive finds from Pompeii and Herculaneum are on display, as well as the famous Farnese Collection with its imposing Roman sculptures. For those who love the city’s mystical side, a visit to the San Severo Chapel is well worth it, where you can admire the famous marble statue of the “Shattered Christ,” an awe-inspiring masterpiece of sculpture. If you want to see a different side of Naples, you can head down into the city’s underground and explore the Catacombs of San Gaudioso. In this fascinating space, you’ll discover ancient tombs, secret passages, and learn about the burial rituals of the early Christians, in an experience that will take you back in time. For a more leisurely stroll, you can enjoy a walk through the Old Town of Naples, full of life, picturesque alleys, and small authentic trattorias, where you can enjoy one last taste of authentic Neapolitan pizza or a delicious sfogliatella. Later, we’ll board the bus for our transfer to the airport and our return flight. Having filled our hearts with unforgettable experiences, unique memories, and, of course, new friends, we look forward to seeing you on our next wonderful trip!
