Field Trip Itinerary

DAY 1DEPARTURE FLIGHT - TREVISO - PANTOVA - MESTRE

We’ll meet at “Macedonia” Airport on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m., board the Ryanair flight, and take a direct flight to charming Treviso. Upon arrival, our guide will be waiting to begin our exploration of these wonderful places in this small town, which offers a unique charm and invites us to discover it through its picturesque canals, traditional buildings, and beautiful squares.

During our tour, we will walk along the tranquil canals of Treviso, which in some places resemble a miniature version of Venice. In the historic center, we’ll see the impressive Duomo di Treviso, known for its elegant architecture. In Piazza dei Signori, the lively heart of the city, we’ll have time to enjoy a coffee. Nearby, the famous Fontana delle Tette (Fountain of the Breasts), an unexpected historical landmark of the city, recalls the tradition imposed during the Venetian era.

We will then depart for PADUA, the Painted City (URBS PICTA). Padua is truly a living monument, a historical treasure trove that boasts some of the most valuable artistic achievements. We will see the imposing Basilica of Saint Anthony, one of the most important Catholic pilgrimage sites in the world, and the famous Scrovegni Chapel with its frescoes by Giotto. Piazza della Valle, Italy’s largest and most imposing square, is an open-air art museum featuring 78 statues. In the historic center, we can admire the Palazzo della Ragione, the medieval courthouse dating from 1218, and Piazza della Signoria. Finally, we’ll stop at Pedrochi, the city’s historic café, before heading back to our hotel in Mestre.

DAY 2VENICE - ST. MARK'S SQUARE - THE VENETIAN LAGOON - BURANO

After breakfast, we will head to the small harbor to board the vaporetto and visit Venice. Unique and enchanting, with its 124 islands and 438 bridges. We will learn about the history of Marco Polo and great painters such as Tintoretto and Titian. We will see the historic Church of St. George and the Flangineo School.

The monumental Piazza San Marco is characterized by its Basilica and the Doge’s Palace with the famous Bridge of Sighs. We will walk to the Grand Canal and the famous Rialto Bridge. We will end up in the San Polo district and at Campo San Giacomo. Early in the afternoon, an optional excursion to the lagoon to visit the beautiful, colorful Burano, famous for its lace-making and colorful houses, which ranks among the 10 most colorful towns in the world. Late in the afternoon, we’ll return by boat to our hotel.

DAY 3MESTRE - VERONA - JULIET'S BALCONY - SIRMIONE - LAKE GARDA - MILAN

We’re heading to the city of lovers, the famous Verona. In the historic center (Centro Storico), we’ll see the Verona Arena, the massive Roman amphitheater, the grand piazzas, and of course Juliet’s House with its legendary balcony. We’ll also see the Ponte di Pietra bridge next to the Adige River.

We continue to the enchanting lakeside town of Sirmione on Lake Garda. We’ll admire the Scaliger Castle (12th century), Maria Callas’s villa, and the archaeological site featuring Catullus’s villa. Our final destination is the hotel in Milan. Check-in and free time for a first stroll next to the famous Duomo.

DAY 4LAKES OF LOMBARDY - COMO - SWITZERLAND - LUGANO - NAVIGLI

We set off for a boat trip on Lake Como and to the beautiful city of Lugano in Switzerland. In Como, we will admire the Cathedral (Duomo), the Broletto (Old Town Hall), and Piazza San Fedele. We then head to Switzerland and Lugano, which is situated on a bay on the northern shore of the lake of the same name.

Lugano combines Mediterranean style with Swiss organization. We’ll enjoy the cosmopolitan atmosphere in its historic lakeside center, with its Italian Lombard-style buildings. Return to Milan, and in the evening we recommend a stroll through the Navigli district for food and drinks alongside the canals.

DAY 5MILAN - CITY TOUR - BERGAMO - RETURN FLIGHT

A morning tour of Milan, the capital of art and fashion. We’ll see the Sforza Castle, the impressive Duomo, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, and the famous La Scala. Free time for shopping on the bustling Corso Vittorio Emanuele.

Our final stop is Bergamo. We will visit the Citta’ Alta (Upper Town), a medieval district enclosed by Venetian walls. We will reach it by cable car and end up in the old square, considered the most beautiful in all of Europe. We will then head to the airport for our direct return flight with Ryanair.
