Our first stop is Bellinzona, the canton’s capital and one of Switzerland’s most distinctive historic cities. Its strategic location on the route connecting northern Europe with Italy made it an important stronghold for centuries, a fact attested to this day by its imposing medieval castles and fortifications, which are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We’ll stroll through the picturesque historic center, among squares, arcades, and traditional buildings, and admire the impressive Castelgrande, which towers over the city. We’ll then cross into Italy and arrive at beautiful Lake Como, one of the most beautiful and most photographed lakes in Europe. Our tour begins at the lakeside Piazza Cavour, where we’ll capture our first beautiful views of the lake and the mountains surrounding it. We’ll then walk toward the heart of the old town and the impressive Cathedral of Como —the Duomo di Como, one of Lombardy’s most important monuments, which harmoniously combines Gothic and Renaissance architectural elements. We’ll continue through the picturesque alleys and small squares of the historic center, among traditional shops, cafés, and elegant Italian buildings. Of course, we’ll also spend some time on the beautiful lakeside promenade to bid farewell to Lake Como with the scenes that have made it world-famous. In the afternoon, we’ll continue on to Milan. It is one of Europe’s most elegant shopping arcades and an essential part of any visit to Milan. We continue on to the famous La Scala in Milan, one of the world’s most important opera houses, and then explore the city’s historic and commercial center in greater depth.
Next, enjoy some free time for shopping, as Milan is one of the world’s leading fashion capitals. The options are truly endless: ● the famous Via Montenapoleone and the Quadrilatero della Moda, featuring top international fashion houses and luxury boutiques, ● Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, ideal for well-known international chains and more affordable shopping, ● Via Torino, one of the city’s liveliest shopping streets, ● as well as the area around the Duomo, where department stores, boutiques, cafés, and restaurants are concentrated.
This is the perfect time to enjoy Milan in a truly festive atmosphere, with decorated streets, illuminated storefronts, and bustling shopping activity. For those who wish, free time can also be spent strolling through the elegant Brera district, with its picturesque alleys, small boutiques, galleries, and atmospheric cafés, or for a visit to the Navigli district, known for its canals, restaurants, and lively atmosphere.
