We’ll meet at “Macedonia” Airport at 9:00 a.m. and take a direct flight to Zurich. Upon arrival, we will head to the center of Zurich. We’ll begin our city tour along the banks of the Limmat River. We will see the impressive City Hall, St. Peter’s Church, Grossmünster Cathedral, Fraumünster Church with its stained-glass windows by Marc Chagall, and the Opera House. Afterward, we’ll have free time to stroll along Bahnhofstrasse, the city’s main shopping street. In the afternoon, check-in at the hotel.
Breakfast and departure for Lucerne, on the shores of Lake Lucerne. We will tour the old town with its famous Chapel Bridge, the Town Hall, and the medieval wine market. We then arrive in Bern, the federal capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will see the Federal Parliament, the imposing Cathedral, the Keffigturm Tower, the main street Marktgasse with its arcades and fountains, and the astronomical clock. We’ll finish up at the Niedergbrücke bridge and the Bear Park. Return to Zurich.
Departure for Basel, at the tri-border area (Switzerland, France, Germany). We will visit Basel Cathedral with its red stone, the oldest bridge, Mittlere Brücke, and the central square, Marktplatz, with its impressive City Hall. We continue through the Black Forest to Colmar in Alsace, a town that looks like a painting with its canals and colorful houses. Free time for lunch and local wine tasting. Return to Zurich.
Free day in Zurich or optional excursion. We arrive in Chur, where we board the traditional Alpine Train bound for cosmopolitan St. Moritz (1,580 m). The journey through forests and glaciers is breathtaking. Free time in St. Moritz to browse the luxury boutiques or take the cable car up for views from the Alpine peaks. Return to Zurich by bus in the afternoon.
Optional excursion to Liechtenstein, the sixth-smallest country in the world. We will visit the capital, Vaduz, with its iconic castle. We will then depart for St. Gallen. We will see the Abbey, the Baroque Cathedral, and the famous Abbey Library (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), one of the oldest in the world. Free time in the Old Town with its wood-carved balconies. Return to Zurich.
Breakfast and departure for the Rhine Falls (Reinfall), the largest in Europe. We continue to Stein am Rhein, the “Rothenburg of Switzerland,” a medieval village with colorful townhouses on the central Rathausplatz square. Transfer to Zurich Airport for the return flight.
