Today is entirely dedicated to Florence, the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance and one of the world’s most important cities of art. The city that gave birth to great artists and is home to priceless masterpieces will reveal its secrets and timeless charm to us. We begin with a guided tour of the most important monuments in the historic center. We will pass by the imposing Basilica di Santa Croce, one of the city’s most important churches and the burial site of approximately 270 of Italy’s greatest figures, including Galileo Galilei, Michelangelo, and Niccolò Machiavelli.
Next, we’ll admire the famous Ponte Vecchio, with its distinctive houses and small jewelry shops that seem to hover over the Arno River, one of the city’s most iconic sights. In Piazza della Signoria, we’ll see the imposing Palazzo Vecchio, which served as the seat of local government for more than seven hundred years and is now adorned with important sculptures. Our tour will culminate in Piazza del Duomo, where the impressive Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore stands out—one of the largest cathedrals in Europe, with Filippo Brunelleschi’s famous dome serving as the ultimate symbol of Florence. After the tour, you’ll have free time for lunch, coffee, or a leisurely stroll through the city’s elegant streets, among historic palaces, charming squares, and countless shops. Late in the afternoon, we return to our hotel in Prato, our minds filled with images of a city that is rightly considered a living museum of the Renaissance.
Today gives you the opportunity to enjoy Florence at your own pace or take part in a magical optional excursion to one of Italy’s most stunning regions, the famous Cinque Terre. Perched atop the steep cliffs of the Italian Riviera and bathed by the azure waters of the Mediterranean, these colorful villages create a setting of unique beauty, which has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Starting from the city of La Spezia, we will board a boat for a unique cruise along the coastline, enjoying the impressive view of the famous villages of Riomaggiore, Manarola, and Monterosso al Mare from the sea. In Monterosso, we’ll have free time to stroll and have lunch by the sea, amidst one of the most iconic landscapes of the Italian Riviera. Next, we’ll visit the enchanting Portovenere, one of the most romantic villages in the region, built on the tip of a rocky peninsula, with colorful houses, narrow streets, and a magnificent view of the sea. Later, we return to La Spezia and, after the cruise ends, we head to our hotel in Prato, near Florence. In the evening, we recommend another leisurely stroll through the wider area of Prato or the historic center of Florence. Enjoy the city’s summer atmosphere, stroll through the illuminated alleys, and sample authentic flavors of Tuscan cuisine at one of the local restaurants.
After breakfast, we set off on a magical excursion into the heart of Tuscany, through landscapes of vineyards, olive groves, and cypress trees that paint the most authentic picture of the Italian countryside. Today’s itinerary combines history, architecture, and culinary experiences, with stops at two of Italy’s most picturesque and historic medieval towns. Our first stop is the fairytale town of San Gimignano, also known as the “Manhattan of the Middle Ages.” Its impressive stone towers rise up from afar, creating a scene that seems to have come from another era. Of the 76 towers that stood here in the 13th century, 14 remain today, making San Gimignano one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Tuscany.
We’ll have time to wander through the narrow cobblestone streets and enjoy the town’s unique atmosphere. Next, one of the most enjoyable experiences of the trip awaits us: a visit to a local winery in the area. Set amidst an idyllic landscape of vineyards and lush green hills, we’ll learn about the tradition of Tuscan winemaking and enjoy a tasting of fine local wines, accompanied by authentic Italian bruschetta, a variety of cheeses, and fine cured meats. Our day continues with a visit to the impressive city of Siena, a true city-museum, rich in history and medieval atmosphere. Divided into 17 historic districts (Contrade), each with its own symbol, the city retains its authentic character to this day. We’ll have free time to wander through the picturesque streets, admire the unique architecture, and feel the pulse of another era. Late in the afternoon, we’ll return to our hotel in Prato, near Florence.
The last day of our trip has arrived. After breakfast at the hotel in Prato, we’ll head to Bologna Airport, where we’ll catch our return flight. We leave behind the enchanting Tuscany, with its medieval towns, idyllic landscapes, and flavors that give the region its unique identity. From the grandeur of Florence to the stone towers of San Gimignano and the colorful villages of the Cinque Terre, this journey has been an authentic mosaic of images, history, and Italian elegance. Filled with beautiful memories, unique photos, and new friendships, we bid farewell to Italy, looking forward to our next wonderful journey.
