A true panorama of sights, cities, and landscapes, designed specifically for the period around October 28. Over the course of seven full days, we will discover different facets of Switzerland, from the Italian-speaking Ticino region and the French-speaking Riviera of Lake Geneva to the historic cities of central Switzerland and the breathtaking routes of the Swiss Alps. Our journey begins in Italy, with a tour of cosmopolitan Milan and a stay in the area around beautiful Lake Como. We’ll explore French-speaking Switzerland, Lausanne, the vineyards of Lavaux, the elegant Montreux, and the picturesque Vevey, and we’ll also cross into neighboring France to visit the fairy-tale town of Annecy. The Lavaux region is known for its terraced vineyards with panoramic views of the lake and the Alps, while the Montreux–Vevey Riviera stands out for its lakeside walks and Belle Époque atmosphere.
We will then travel through the heart of the country, visiting medieval Bern and romantic Lucerne, before arriving in Zurich. From there, we’ll have the opportunity to enjoy one of the trip’s highlights: a ride on the Rhaetian Railway’s Alpine train to cosmopolitan St. Moritz. The itinerary concludes with elegant Zurich, the tiny Principality of Liechtenstein, and historic St. Gallen, before our return flight from Memmingen. We’ll meet at “Macedonia” Airport at 4:15 a.m. and take a direct flight to Bergamo. Upon arrival, after collecting our luggage and meeting our tour guide from the agency, we’ll immediately begin exploring one of the most beautiful and best-preserved cities in Lombardy. Bergamo is divided into two distinct areas: the Lower Town and the historic Upper Town, the famous Città Alta, which perches atop a hill and is surrounded by impressive Venetian walls. We’ll head up to the historic center and stroll through the picturesque cobblestone alleys, past medieval buildings, small squares, and traditional shops. We’ll arrive at Piazza Vecchia, the impressive central square of the Upper Town, where the Palazzo della Ragione, City Hall, and the distinctive Campanone tower are located. We’ll see the Cathedral, the Baptistery, and the ornate Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, one of the city’s most important religious monuments. There will be time for photos, a coffee, or a short stroll through the shops of the old town.
We will then depart for cosmopolitan Milan, Italy’s economic and commercial capital and one of Europe’s leading centers of fashion and design. Upon arrival, we’ll head to the impressive Piazza del Duomo, dominated by the famous Milan Cathedral. It is one of the largest and most imposing Gothic structures in Europe, featuring hundreds of statues, intricate carvings, and distinctive marble spires. Next to the cathedral, we’ll visit the dazzling Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, one of the oldest and most elegant shopping arcades in the world, with its impressive glass dome, mosaic floors, historic cafés, and boutiques of renowned international brands. Walking through the arcade, we’ll reach Piazza del Teatro alla Scala, home to one of the world’s most important opera houses. We’ll see the exterior of the famous Teatro alla Scala and learn about the history of this venue, which has hosted some of the most important opera composers and performers. After our tour, there will be plenty of free time for shopping and exploring on your own. You can explore the well-known shopping street Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, Via Torino, or—for more upmarket options—the famous Quadrilatero della Moda district, featuring Via Montenapoleone and Via della Spiga. At the same time, you can enjoy an Italian coffee, an aperitivo, or a meal in Milan’s historic center. Late in the afternoon, we’ll depart for the Como area. Arrival at the hotel; check-in.
After breakfast and check-out, we’ll begin our tour of Como, one of the most beautiful lakeside cities in northern Italy. The city is built on the southwestern shore of Lake Como and is surrounded by lush green hills, elegant villas, and picturesque villages. For centuries, Lake Como has been a favorite destination for artists, writers, and prominent figures from around the world. We’ll begin our walking tour at the central Piazza Cavour, located right on the lake, and continue toward the impressive Como Cathedral. The cathedral combines Gothic and Renaissance elements and is one of the city’s most important landmarks. We’ll stroll through the picturesque alleys of the historic center, see the old Broletto Town Hall, and explore the small squares, cafés, and traditional shops that preserve the area’s Italian atmosphere. Next, we’ll enjoy a lovely stroll along the lakeside boulevard, with views of the mountains, the luxurious villas, and the small settlements scattered around the lake.
Next, we’ll continue our journey to Geneva. Along the way, we’ll pass through the stunning landscapes of northern Italy and western Switzerland, noting the changes in nature, architecture, and language as we head toward the French-speaking part of the country. Upon our arrival in Geneva, we’ll immediately begin a panoramic tour of the international organizations district. We’ll see the Palais des Nations, the European headquarters of the United Nations, the International Red Cross building, and Nations Square, where the striking “Broken Chair” sculpture stands out. Next, we’ll head to the shores of Lake Geneva and the famous Jet d’Eau, Geneva’s iconic water feature. We’ll stroll through the lakeside gardens and see the colorful Flower Clock, dedicated to the long tradition of Swiss watchmaking. After our tour, we’ll head to the hotel and check into our rooms. In the evening, you’ll have free time for dinner and your first chance to explore Geneva on your own.
After breakfast, we set out for one of the most visually stunning days of our trip, traveling along Lake Geneva and the famous Swiss Riviera. Our first stop is Lausanne, which is built in an amphitheater-like layout overlooking the lake. We’ll start in the historic center and see the imposing Gothic cathedral, City Hall, and Palud Square, with its picturesque buildings and small shops. Next, we’ll head to the lakeside neighborhood of Ouchy, with its elegant gardens, hotels, and beautiful lakeside promenade. The Olympic Museum is also located in this area, as Lausanne is the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee.
We set off along one of the country’s most scenic routes, through the vineyards of Lavaux. The vineyards form terraces above the lake and offer stunning views of the waters of Lake Geneva and the opposite peaks of the Alps. The area is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We continue on to Vevey, an elegant lakeside town with a historic center, a large central square, and a lovely lakeside promenade. We’ll walk along the waterfront and see the famous statue of Charlie Chaplin, who lived in the area for many years.
Next stop is the elegant city of Montreux, nestled between the lake and the slopes of the Alps. We’ll stroll along the lakeside boulevard lined with the grand Belle Époque hotels and see the statue of Freddie Mercury, which has become one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. The Montreux waterfront stretches for several kilometers and is one of the most famous promenades on the Riviera.
We’ll then cross the border into France and head to the beautiful city of Annecy, also known as the “Venice of the Alps.” The city is built on the shores of Lake Annecy and is crisscrossed by small canals. We’ll stroll through the Old Town, among colorful buildings, arcades, small bridges, and cobblestone streets. We’ll see the iconic Palais de l’Île, built on a small island in the canal, and make our way to the gardens and the lakeshore. There will be free time for lunch, coffee, and shopping in the picturesque alleys. Late in the afternoon, we’ll depart for Geneva.
After breakfast, we depart for Bern, the historic capital of the Swiss Confederation and one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Europe. The old town is built on a peninsula formed by the Aare River and is known for its distinctive arches, cobblestone streets, colorful fountains, and historic sandstone buildings. We’ll begin our tour in the Bear Pond area, named after the animal that serves as the city’s symbol. From this vantage point, we’ll enjoy one of the most beautiful panoramic views of Old Bern, with the Aare River embracing the historic center. Crossing the bridge, we’ll head toward the Old Town. We’ll see the imposing Cathedral, City Hall, the house where Albert Einstein lived, and the famous Zytglogge Clock Tower, one of Bern’s most important landmarks. We’ll walk beneath the characteristic covered arcades, which stretch across much of the historic center, and end up at the Federal Palace, the seat of the Swiss government and parliament. There will be free time for coffee, lunch, and shopping in the historic center.
We’ll then depart for enchanting Lucerne, one of Switzerland’s most beautiful and most photographed cities. The city is built on the shores of Lake Lucerne, with the peaks of the Alps creating a unique natural backdrop. We’ll visit the famous Lion Monument, which is carved into the natural rock and dedicated to the Swiss Guards who lost their lives during the French Revolution. Next, we’ll stroll through the historic center, with its painted facades, squares, and well-preserved buildings. We’ll cross the famous Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke), with its distinctive water tower, and enjoy the view of the lake and the surrounding mountain peaks. There will be free time to stroll along the lakeside promenade, have lunch, shop, or, if the schedule allows, take a short cruise on the lake. Late in the afternoon, we’ll depart for Zurich. We’ll arrive in the evening and check in at our hotel.
Today is a free day for you to enjoy Zurich however you like. We’ve also organized a unique optional excursion for you, which is one of the highlights of our trip: a breathtaking train ride through the heart of the Swiss Alps. Early in the morning, we’ll depart from Zurich and head to Chur, the capital of the canton of Graubünden and one of Switzerland’s oldest cities. From there, we’ll board the Rhaetian Railway’s Alpine train and embark on an unforgettable journey to the Engadin region and the cosmopolitan town of St. Moritz. As the train climbs toward the Alps, the landscape changes constantly. Green valleys, rushing rivers, dense forests, traditional villages, and Alpine peaks alternate outside the train windows. The Rhaetian Railways traverse one of Europe’s most spectacular mountainous regions, following routes that have become world-renowned for their engineering feats and natural surroundings.
Arrival in St. Moritz, one of the world’s most famous and cosmopolitan mountain resorts. The town is situated in a prime location, overlooking the lake of the same name and nestled within a stunning Alpine landscape. We’ll stroll through the elegant town center, with its luxury hotels, international shops, and traditional buildings, and enjoy the panoramic view of the lake and the surrounding peaks. There will be free time for lunch, coffee, and shopping. In the afternoon, we’ll depart by bus for Zurich, taking a different mountain route through the Engadin region and the Swiss Alps. We’ll arrive in the evening, filled with unforgettable views from one of the most beautiful routes of our trip.
Those who choose to stay in Zurich will have the day free for shopping, visiting museums, strolling through the old town, or taking a cruise on the lake. You can also visit the Swiss National Museum, the Kunsthaus Art Museum, or the Lindt Home of Chocolate.
After breakfast, we’ll begin our full tour of Zurich. Switzerland’s largest city is built on the northern shore of Lake Zurich and is crossed by the Limmat River, around which its beautiful historic center is situated. During our panoramic tour, we’ll explore the modern neighborhoods, the university, the business districts, and the most important public buildings. We’ll pass by the lakeside boulevard, the Opera House, and the elegant residences lining both sides of the lake. Next, we’ll begin our walking tour of the Old Town. We’ll walk along the Limmat River and see the imposing Grossmünster church with its distinctive twin towers, one of Zurich’s most important landmarks. We’ll continue on to the Fraumünster Church, known for its stunning stained-glass windows, and St. Peter’s Church, which features one of the largest church tower clocks in Europe. We’ll stroll through the picturesque Niederdorf district, with its narrow alleys, small squares, shops, cafés, and traditional restaurants. Our tour will conclude on the famous Bahnhofstrasse, one of Europe’s most renowned shopping boulevards, which connects the main train station to the lake. Here you’ll find luxury boutiques, Swiss watches, jewelry, and famous chocolate brands. After the tour, you’ll have free time for dining, shopping, and personal activities. Those who wish can stay in Zurich and enjoy a cruise on the lake, visit one of the major museums, or take a walk along the lakeshore.
At the same time, we offer you the opportunity to join an optional afternoon excursion to the Principality of Liechtenstein and its capital, Vaduz. Leaving Zurich, we’ll head toward eastern Switzerland, passing through lakes, valleys, and the first Alpine peaks. Soon we’ll cross the border and enter one of Europe’s smallest independent states. Vaduz is a small, elegant, and peaceful capital, built in the Rhine Valley and surrounded by mountains. Towering above the city is Vaduz Castle, the official residence of the princely family. We’ll stroll along the main pedestrian street, the Städtle, and see the Parliament, City Hall, St. Florinus Cathedral, and modern cultural buildings. There will be free time for coffee, souvenir shopping, and taking photos. Late in the afternoon, we’ll depart for our return to Zurich. We’ll arrive in the evening, and you’ll have free time for your final outing in the city.
Early in the morning, after breakfast and checking out of our rooms, we will depart from Zurich for historic St. Gallen. The city developed around the famous Abbey of St. Gallen and for centuries was one of Europe’s most important religious, intellectual, and educational centers. The monastic complex, along with its library and historical archives, has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983. Upon our arrival, we’ll begin a walking tour of the picturesque historic center. We’ll see the imposing Baroque Cathedral, with its distinctive twin towers, and the famous Abbey Library, one of the oldest and most beautiful historic libraries in Europe. We’ll stroll through the narrow alleys of the old town and admire the distinctive houses with their ornate wooden windowsand balconies, which are a distinctive feature of St. Gallen’s architecture. We’ll pass through the central squares and pedestrian streets, where there will be some free time for coffee and last-minute shopping.
We will then depart for Germany and Memmingen Airport. Upon arrival, we’ll go through security and collect our luggage. We’ll then board our return flight, filled with wonderful experiences and unforgettable sights from the Swiss cities, lakes, waterfalls, the Alps, and the tiny Principality of Liechtenstein.
