Field Trip Itinerary

DAY 1Flight to Zurich – Bern – Geneva

We’ll meet early in the morning at “Macedonia” Airport and take a direct flight to Zurich. Upon our arrival in Switzerland, one of the most beautiful journeys into the heart of Europe begins immediately. Without wasting any time, we set off by road for Bern, following a route that gradually introduces us to the Swiss countryside: lush green landscapes, picturesque villages, lakes, rivers, and the Alps silhouetted on the horizon. Bern, the federal capital of Switzerland, is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Europe. Built on a striking bend of the Aare River, it combines an aristocratic atmosphere, historical significance, and unique architectural harmony. The Old Town of Bern, with its cobblestone streets, arcades, fountains, red roofs, and stone buildings, has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During our tour, we’ll explore the heart of the city. We’ll see Bärenplatz, which is associated with Bern’s symbol, the bear, and continue on to Bundesplatz, where the imposing Swiss Federal Parliament building stands. We’ll stroll through the historic streets of Marktgasse and Kramgasse, with their characteristic arcades, stately buildings, flags, and ornate fountains that evoke the city’s former prosperity. We’ll admire the famous Clock Tower, the Zytglogge, one of Bern’s most recognizable landmarks, as well as the Cathedral, the medieval bridges, and the magnificent view of the Aare River. Bern does not impress with its intensity, but with its elegance; it is a city that wins you over as you walk through it. We then depart for Geneva, one of Europe’s most international and cosmopolitan cities. Built on the shores of Lake Geneva, where the Rhône River flows through the city, Geneva is home to major international organizations and a symbol of diplomacy, humanitarianism, and global cooperation. During our first tour of the city, we will visit the area of the international organizations, the European headquarters of the United Nations, as well as sites associated with the long history of the International Red Cross. We’ll continue to the lakeside area, with its parks, elegant building facades, sailboats, and views of the Alps. There we’ll also find the famous Flower Clock, dedicated to the Swiss tradition of watchmaking. One of the city’s most iconic landmarks is the Jet d’Eau, the massive fountain that shoots water to an impressive height and has become the ultimate symbol of Geneva. We’ll also explore the Old Town, with its narrow alleys, squares, historic buildings, and St. Peter’s Cathedral, the city’s landmark. Free time for a first stroll along the lake, for coffee, a meal, or a walk through the atmospheric narrow streets of Old Geneva. Check-in at the hotel. Overnight stay.

DAY 2Geneva – Lausanne – Lake Geneva Riviera – Montreux – Vevey – Annecy – Geneva

Breakfast at the hotel and departure for one of the most beautiful days of the trip, dedicated to Lake Geneva, the Swiss Riviera, and the enchanting city of Annecy. Our first stop is Lausanne, the capital of the canton of Vaud and one of Switzerland’s most elegant cities. Built amphitheatrically above the lake, Lausanne combines tranquility, sophistication, youthful energy, and culture. It is known as the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee and is considered the Olympic capital of the world. We’ll explore the lakeside district of Ouchy, with its elegant hotels, waterfront promenades, and views of the French Alps. We’ll then head up to the Old Town, where the Notre Dame Cathedral of Lausanne stands out as one of Switzerland’s most important Gothic monuments. The picturesque streets, squares, and atmosphere of the city reveal a different, quieter, yet exceptionally charming side of the country. We continue our journey along Lake Geneva, Switzerland’s largest lake and one of the most beautiful in Central Europe. The landscape here is truly cinematic: vineyards, small towns, lakeside roads, stately homes, and the Alps in the distance. This region has been beloved by artists, writers, musicians, and celebrities from all over the world. We’ll travel along the famous Lake Geneva Riviera, stopping at spots of exceptional beauty. Montreux, cosmopolitan and elegant, is one of Switzerland’s most famous resorts. It is associated with music, literature, the international jazz festival, and, of course, the statue of Freddie Mercury, located on the city’s lakeshore. The area is also dominated by the famous Chillon Castle, built on a rock in the middle of the lake. It is one of Switzerland’s most photographed and most visited landmarks, having inspired great writers and poets, from Rousseau and Victor Hugo to Lord Byron. The castle, with its towers, halls, and unique location on the water, is one of the most beautiful sights of the day. Next, we’ll head to Vevey, another beautiful lakeside town known for its elegance and tranquil atmosphere. The area is associated with Charlie Chaplin, who spent the last years of his life here. Later, we cross the border into France to visit Annecy, one of the most charming towns in the Alps. Annecy is built on the shores of the lake of the same name and is famous for its canals, pastel-colored facades, stone bridges, and medieval atmosphere. It’s no coincidence that it’s often called the “Venice of the Alps.” We’ll have time to stroll through the Old Town, see the Palais de l’Isle, one of the city’s most iconic buildings, take photos of the canals, and soak up the atmosphere of a truly romantic Alpine destination. Lake Annecy is considered one of the cleanest lakes in Europe, and the surrounding landscape is ideal for walking, taking photos, and relaxing. Free time for lunch or coffee at the town’s picturesque restaurants and bistros. Return to Geneva. Overnight stay.

DAY 3Geneva – Lucerne – Zurich

Breakfast and departure for Lucerne, one of Switzerland’s most beautiful and beloved cities. Today’s route takes us through Alpine landscapes, lakes, lush green valleys, and small villages that look like they’ve sprung from a Swiss fairy tale. Lucerne is built on the shores of Lake Lucerne, with the peaks of the Alps as a backdrop. It is a romantic, picturesque, and lively city, featuring medieval architecture, wooden bridges, painted facades, and a historic center perfect for endless strolls. During our tour, we’ll see the famous wooden Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke), one of Switzerland’s most recognizable landmarks, as well as the octagonal Water Tower. We’ll walk through the Old Town, past squares, stately homes with painted facades, narrow alleys, and traditional buildings. We’ll see City Hall, the Jesuit Church, the Hofkirche, and the historic neighborhoods that give Lucerne its unique atmosphere. The city is ideal for exploring on your own. You can stroll along the lake, enjoy a coffee with a view of the mountains, sample local delicacies, or simply get lost in the alleys of the Old Town. Lucerne is one of those cities that doesn’t have to try to impress—it does so naturally. Next, we head to Zurich, Switzerland’s largest city and one of Europe’s most important economic and cultural centers. Although it is a global financial center, Zurich retains a particularly warm and elegant character. The lake, the Limmat River, the Old Town, the shopping streets, and the elegant buildings come together to create a city that combines luxury, quality of life, and history. Arrival and check-in at the hotel. Depending on the time available, a first tour of the city or free time for a stroll. Overnight stay.

DAY 4Zurich – Chur – Alpine Train – St. Moritz – Zurich

Breakfast at the hotel. Today is dedicated to one of the most unique experiences of the trip: the ride on the Alpine Train to St. Moritz. We depart by car from Zurich and, traveling along a beautiful, lush green route, arrive in Chur, the oldest city in Switzerland and the gateway to the Alpine world of the canton of Graubünden. This is where the breathtaking Alpine train experience begins. We board the traditional train and let Switzerland reveal some of its most enchanting sights to us. The route winds through valleys, forests, bridges, rivers, small stations, lakes, and ever-changing Alpine landscapes. It’s one of those moments when the journey isn’t just the transition from one place to another, but the destination itself. The landscape is full of contrasts: green slopes, deep gorges, stone villages, snow-capped peaks, clear skies, and the characteristic tranquility of the Alps. Every bend in the route resembles a living painting. For many travelers, this is the highlight of the trip. Arrival in St. Moritz, one of the most famous and cosmopolitan Alpine resorts in the world. Perched at an altitude of approximately 1,580 meters, St. Moritz is synonymous with luxury, winter tourism, and refined elegance. Luxurious hotels, elegant chalets, international visitors, boutiques, and alpine scenery come together to create the image of a destination that is rightly called the “top of the world.” We’ll have free time to stroll through the town, take photos, grab a meal or a coffee, and soak up the atmosphere of one of Europe’s most historic winter resorts. The region is renowned for its sunshine, crisp alpine air, and unique natural surroundings. Return to Zurich in the late afternoon. Overnight stay.

DAY 5Zurich – Rhine Falls – Stein am Rhein – Stuttgart – Return flight

Breakfast and departure for the last, but equally impressive, day of the trip. Today we’ll explore two of northern Switzerland’s most distinctive attractions: the Rhine Falls and Stein am Rhein. Our first stop is the famous Rhine Falls, the largest waterfalls in Europe. The Rhine, one of the continent’s most important rivers, originates in the Swiss Alps, flows through countries and landscapes, and creates here one of Central Europe’s most impressive natural spectacles. The sight is mesmerizing. Enormous quantities of water cascade down with great force, creating mist, sound, and a sense of natural power that is hard to describe. The viewing platforms offer exceptional views and unique photo opportunities. It is a place where nature reveals its most dynamic and majestic side. We then depart for Stein am Rhein, one of Switzerland’s most beautiful small towns. Built on the banks of the Rhine, Stein am Rhein resembles an open-air museum of medieval architecture. It is no coincidence that it is often called the “Rothenburg of Switzerland.” Its historic center is truly unique. In the central Rathausplatz square, the painted buildings impress with their colorful facades, murals, decorative elements, and excellent state of preservation. The Town Hall, the stately homes, the small taverns, and the medieval alleyways create an atmosphere of a bygone era. We’ll have time for a stroll, photos, and one last taste of Swiss beauty. Stein am Rhein is the perfect finale to a journey that combines natural landscapes, historic towns, and visually stunning scenes. We’ll then head to Stuttgart Airport, where we’ll board the afternoon direct return flight with Aegean. We’ll arrive in Thessaloniki with the best images and memories from a truly special trip.
