Capri adds a cosmopolitan and maritime dimension to the trip: an island that symbolizes Italian elegance, with stunning landscapes, squares, boutiques, sea views, and a unique atmosphere. Pompeii, on the other hand, transports us to one of the world’s most significant archaeological sites, where time stood still after the eruption of Vesuvius. The journey concludes with the authenticity of Southern Italy: elegant Lecce, the Greek-speaking villages of Grecìa Salentina, the seaside town of Otranto, the unique town of Matera, and the fairytale-like town of Alberobello. We’ll meet early in the morning at “Macedonia” Airport and take a direct flight to Bari. Upon arrival, we’ll board the bus and depart for Matera, one of the most impressive destinations in Southern Italy and a place with a unique character. Matera is known for its famous Sassi neighborhoods, the old cave dwellings, stone houses, cave-like churches, and narrow streets that create an almost cinematic scene. It is a city that impresses not only with its beauty but also with the sense of history that permeates every corner. During our stop, we’ll explore the city’s most iconic sights, enjoy the view of the stone-built neighborhoods, and have time for photos, coffee, or lunch. Matera is the perfect introduction to the trip, as it immediately immerses us in the spirit of Southern Italy: authenticity, stone, history, and a unique atmosphere. We’ll then continue our journey to Naples, the capital of Campania and one of Italy’s most vibrant cities. Upon arrival, we’ll check into our hotel and have some time to rest. In the evening, you can take your first stroll through Naples, soak up the city’s energy and vibrancy, and, of course, try authentic Neapolitan pizza, at one of the places where gastronomy is an integral part of daily life.
A beautiful day is dawning in Naples, the historic and vibrant capital of Campania. Today you have the opportunity to spend your time in the city however you like, exploring the neighborhoods, squares, picturesque alleys, cafés, and authentic flavors at your own pace. Alternatively, we recommend joining our excursion to the enchanting island of Capri, one of Italy’s most famous and cosmopolitan islands. Our day begins early in the morning with a transfer to the port and boarding the speedboat to cross the Bay of Naples and reach the island rightly called “The Garden of Eden.” According to tradition, Capri is linked to the myths of Homer and the island of the Sirens, who enchanted Odysseus with their song. From the very first moment, the island captivates visitors with its natural beauty, its turquoise waters, its sheer cliffs, its colorful houses, chic cafés, small squares, and its unique Mediterranean vibe. We’ll explore Capri, with its famous Piazzetta, its picturesque alleys, chic boutiques, and cosmopolitan atmosphere—all of which have made it a favorite destination for artists, celebrities, and travelers from around the world. Next, we’ll visit Anacapri, the quietest and most authentic part of the island, perched higher up with magnificent views, charming alleyways, traditional houses, and an atmosphere that exudes serenity and island elegance. Roman villas, old mansions, churches, gardens, small squares, and stairways leading to spots with panoramic views come together to create a setting of unique beauty. Capri is not just a destination; it is an experience filled with light, color, history, and Italian finesse. Late in the afternoon, we return by speedboat to Naples and then to our hotel, our minds filled with images of one of the most beautiful islands in the Mediterranean.
After breakfast, we’ll begin our exploration of Naples. The city is intense, full of contrasts, vibrant, and deeply authentic. It boasts one of Italy’s most distinctive historic centers, filled with churches, palaces, narrow alleys, open-air markets, small workshops, balconies, scenes of everyday life, and nonstop activity. During the tour, we’ll explore the city’s main landmarks and get a true sense of the Neapolitan spirit. Naples is not a “neat” and predictable city; it’s a city that lives life to the fullest, blending the working-class with the aristocratic, the old with the modern, and history with everyday life. That is precisely what makes it so charming. We then depart for Pompeii, one of the most important archaeological sites in the world. The ancient city was buried after the eruption of Vesuvius and has been uniquely preserved over time, offering a striking glimpse into life in antiquity. During our visit, we’ll tour the archaeological site, see ancient streets, residences, public buildings, squares, gathering places, and sites that reveal the daily life, organization, and culture of the Roman city. Pompeii is an experience that combines knowledge, emotion, and awe. After our visit, we’ll depart for Lecce, the capital of Salento. Upon arrival, we’ll check in at our hotel and spend the night there.
After breakfast, we set out for a day dedicated to the Greek heritage of Southern Italy and the beauty of Salento. Our first stop is the Greek-speaking villages of Grecìa Salentina, a region of exceptional cultural significance where elements linking Southern Italy to Hellenic culture are still preserved. We’ll pass through picturesque villages, explore the local architecture, the small squares, the stone houses, and the unique atmosphere of a place where history remains alive through words, music, traditions, and memories. This excursion holds special appeal for Greek travelers, as it offers a rare sense of familiarity in an Italian setting. We then depart for Otranto, one of the most beautiful coastal towns in Apulia. Otranto is built right by the sea and is known for its castle, city walls, historic center, narrow streets, cathedral, and magnificent view of the Adriatic Sea. We’ll stroll through the old town, soak up the seaside atmosphere, and have time for coffee, a meal, or photos. Otranto combines history, the sea, and a romantic Mediterranean setting, making it one of the most beautiful stops on the trip. Return to Lecce. In the evening, you can enjoy the city, stroll through the illuminated squares, and soak up the atmosphere of Salento.
Breakfast and departure for the last day of the trip, filled with sights from Southern Italy. Depending on the final flight and transportation schedule, we’ll make the most of our journey with stops at two of the region’s most iconic sites: Matera and Alberobello. Matera, with its Sassi, its stone architecture, and its unique atmosphere, is a place worth revisiting—whether for an additional tour or for one last panoramic view. The town has a power that lingers in the memory and is one of the most distinctive landscapes of Southern Italy. We then continue on to Alberobello, the fairy-tale village of Apulia with its famous trulli. The small stone houses with their conical roofs, the white-washed alleys, the shops selling local products, and the village’s unique architecture create one of Italy’s most distinctive settings. We’ll have time to stroll around, take photos, and shop for souvenirs. Afterward, we’ll be transferred to the airport for our return flight. Arrival in Thessaloniki in the evening, with memories of Naples, Capri, Pompeii, Lecce, Matera, and Apulia.
