Field Trip Itinerary

DAY 1January 16 | Off to... Mexico!

Charge your batteries to 100%, because Mexico is a country that never sleeps, and the World Party Traveller team is already “plugged in” for non-stop action! The moment you’ve been dreaming of has arrived… We’ll meet you at Eleftherios Venizelos Airport with your adrenaline pumping through the roof. Forget everything you knew until now and get ready for a true explosion of the senses. From the explosive, fiery flavors that will set your senses ablaze to the mystical Mayan culture that will enchant you, every moment of this journey is designed to take your breath away. We’re not just coming here to “see” Mexico… We’re coming to experience it with our whole being, to the very end! Scenes of rare beauty await you, along with hidden cenotes with crystal-clear waters, exotic beaches, and vibes that will be etched in your memory forever. Forget about siestas and get ready for the ultimate fiesta! Mexico is waiting for you to discover it, and we’re already on our way. Vamos!

DAY 2January 17 | City tour - Lucha libre

Early in the morning, we arrived in Mexico City! Since we can’t check into our rooms just yet, as soon as we pick up our luggage, we’ll hop on the bus and head straight out for a tour of the capital. No matter how tired you feel from the flight, we’re sure the energy of this city will make you forget all about it! To start, we’ll stroll through one of the world’s largest squares, the Zocalo. It’s located in the heart of downtown and is three times larger than Syntagma Square. There, we’ll see the government buildings, the imposing Cathedral, and the National Palace. Next stop: the famous Paseo de la Reforma. We’ll admire the Angel of Independence, the city’s landmark monument that rises 36 meters high, and as we cross the avenue, we’ll be “greeted” by the statues of Diana the Huntress and El Caballito. Afterward, you can optionally watch a Lucha Libre match, which translates to “free wrestling.” It’s one of the country’s most popular spectacles, with masked luchadores putting on a show of acrobatics and acting. Keep in mind, however, that if you choose Lucha Libre, you won’t have much time to rest. Nevertheless, the colorful masks, the bright lights, and the cheers of the crowd will more than make up for it, immersing you fully in the atmosphere of an authentic Mexican fiesta!

DAY 3January 18 | Pyramids of Teotihuacan

After a good night’s rest and once you’ve enjoyed your breakfast, we’ll board the bus and head toward the majestic pyramids of Teotihuacan. Are you ready to walk in the footsteps of one of Mexico’s greatest civilizations? As we approach, the majestic pyramids loom on the horizon, ready to take us back in time, to the era when this city was one of the largest and most powerful centers of the ancient world. Our tour begins with a stroll down the Avenue of the Dead, the city’s main thoroughfare connecting its most important monuments. Among them, the two legendary pyramids stand out. First is the Pyramid of the Sun, the largest in the complex and the third largest in the world; those who climb its 248 steps will be rewarded with a panoramic view of the ancient city. Next is the Pyramid of the Moon, which is smaller but equally impressive, offering the best view of the Avenue of the Dead and revealing the perfect alignment of the city’s temples and plazas. During the tour, we’ll discover the secrets of the murals, rituals, and architecture of the Teotihuacans, who flourished here centuries before the Aztecs arrived in the region. Filled with unique sights and history, we board our bus. Before returning to the hotel, we make a stop at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mexico’s most important religious monument and one of the world’s most popular pilgrimage sites.

DAY 4January 19 | Cholula - Puebla - Oaxaca

Next stop… Cholula! It is a beautiful city considered to be the oldest in the Americas. It is built in such a way that it seems to be climbing the slopes of the Popocatepetl volcano, which rises imposingly beside it. Catholic churches, Muslim domes, Baroque domes, and fortress-like monasteries coexist in this city in perfect harmony, creating a sensory explosion for every visitor. We continue on to the “City of Angels,” Puebla. It is a destination that looks as if it has stepped out of a painting, ready to live up to its reputation as one of Mexico’s most elegant cities. Its historic center is a true gem, adorned with the famous colorful azulejos tiles and brimming with the charm of a bygone era. With more than 70 impressive churches and breathtaking architecture, Puebla will treat us to some magnificent sights. After soaking up its unique atmosphere, we’ll head to enchanting Oaxaca, where we’ll spend the night.

DAY 5January 20 | Tour of Oaxaca - Mezcal

Today, our day begins with a visit to Árbol del Tule. It is a cypress tree over 2,000 years old, which holds the record for the widest trunk on the planet. Next, our route takes us to a traditional distillery, where we’ll have the opportunity to participate in a mezcal tasting and sample different varieties of this “magical” drink. Mezcal is the traditional drink of the Mexicans, with Oaxaca as its birthplace. It is the “ancestor” of tequila, made from agave distillate with a very distinctive, smoky flavor, and is traditionally served on special occasions. It’s the perfect moment to clink our glasses and shout “Salud!” We’ll return to Oaxaca to explore its historic center in greater detail. We’ll tour the city, where the Spanish colonial architectural style, the colorful markets, and the folk crafts will “dazzle” us just enough. At one of the markets, you’ll also get to sample a variety of chocolates. We’ll have time to get lost in the picturesque alleys, admire the local art, and feel the pulse of a city that remains authentic and welcoming.

DAY 6January 21 | Puerto Escondido

The day begins with an exciting boat ride through a unique ecosystem. We board the boat and cruise along a river that flows into the sea. Get ready for some thrilling moments as you watch crocodiles swimming just a stone’s throw from our boat, right in their natural habitat! At the same time, we’ll admire rare birds nesting in the mangrove thickets on the lake’s islets. We’ll disembark on the main island, which is home to and protects crocodiles and other endemic species of the region. There, we’ll take a pleasant break at an open-air spot where you can enjoy a refreshing juice or a fresh coconut, if you’d like. But the adventure continues on the other side of the area! On a vast lake, we’ll enjoy a magical boat ride through the lush vegetation. When we reach the lake’s mouth, we’ll head down to the beach to watch the sunset over the vast Pacific coast. A little surprise awaits us there… They’ll light a fire for us right on the sand so we can roast bombones (marshmallows) under the Mexican sky. The highlight of the day comes as soon as darkness falls. We’ll board the boats again for the experience of a lifetime: swimming in bioluminescent waters! As soon as you dive into the dark waters, everything around you glows magically with every movement you make. It’s a phenomenon that seems otherworldly and will leave you speechless! *Note: Bioluminescence is a complex natural phenomenon that depends on many factors (such as the phase of the moon and weather conditions). Since nature is unpredictable, we can enjoy this gift only when conditions allow.

DAY 7January 22 | Domestic flight to Villahermosa - Palenque

Today we bid farewell to Puerto Escondido and the atmosphere of the Pacific. We’ll fly through the capital to Villahermosa, with our final destination being the mysterious Palenque. Get a good night’s rest, because tomorrow is dedicated to exploration—specifically, the search for the “Lost Atlantis of the Maya”! We’ll find ourselves in front of one of the world’s most impressive archaeological sites, where dense vegetation hides ancient secrets and breathtaking temples.

DAY 8January 23 | Palenque - Roblero Barrios Waterfalls - Campeche

Today we wake up early and head to the archaeological site of Palenque to journey into the mystical world of the Maya. Hidden within the jungle mist, the Mayan pyramids rise proudly from the greenery, revealing this magnificent ancient civilization to us. Hearing the welcome of the jungle’s current inhabitants somewhere in the distance, we’ll walk along the trails, stumbling upon impressive structures and temple ruins until the famous “Palenque Astronaut” is revealed to us. Rumors say that his image proves that extraterrestrials have visited the area in the past, while others refute this, explaining that it is a depiction of King Pakal journeying to the Underworld. We’ll go with the theory we like best, and since we’ve felt like Indiana Jones enough for today, we continue on to the Instagram-worthy Roblero Barrios waterfalls. We walk through lush green landscapes until we reach a hidden paradise with turquoise waters and waterfalls. Once we’ve recharged, we head to Campeche, where we’ll have plenty of time to “process” all the day’s experiences.

DAY 9January 24 | Campeche - Mérida

Today we’ll enjoy one of the most beautiful settings in the country. The historic center of Campeche needs no help from professional set designers to offer us a fairytale atmosphere. Gorgeous colonial buildings in pastel hues, narrow cobblestone alleys, charming old mansions in the center, as well as lively markets, quiet pedestrian streets, and laid-back cafés just a few meters away, will make us feel like we’re part of this story. The fairy tale, however, has a second chapter for today, as our next destination is Mérida, the capital of the state of Yucatán. It may seem paradoxical, but its many contrasts are precisely what make Mérida a quiet paradise. Colonial houses, Mayan ruins, large squares, and narrow alleys coexist in perfect harmony.

DAY 10January 25 | Merida - Chichen Itza - Tsukan Cenote - Valladolid

Today we’ll visit one of the 7 modern wonders of the world! We’ll travel back in time, straight to the “sacred well of the Maya Itzaes,” as the name of their most important city translates in the Maya language. The Pyramid of Kukulkan and the Hall of a Thousand Pillars are just a few of the monuments that will bring us closer to this ancient civilization. At the archaeological site, we’ll also pass by various ball courts—and don’t be surprised, because the Maya were passionate soccer players. It’s just that back then, they played using a different technique. Afterward, what could be more natural than cooling off in the waters of the Tsukan Cenote? Cenotes are one of the region’s most impressive natural wonders. They are natural water reservoirs formed millions of years ago. The Maya used them for religious sacrifices; we’ll “sacrifice” ourselves to enjoy the cenote’s wonderful waters. Our final stop for today is the beautiful colonial city of Valladolid, where we’ll spend the night, enjoying the tranquility and authentic atmosphere of Yucatán.

DAY 11January 26 | Valladolid - Tulum - Cancun

Today we’re leaving Valladolid and heading to the Tulum coastline for a day dedicated to the sun and the Caribbean Sea. Since large buses are strictly prohibited on Tulum’s beachfront, we’ll have to travel by van. We’ll visit a beautiful public beach in the area, where you can freely enjoy a swim in the turquoise waters. However, if you’d like the comfort of a lounge chair or umbrella, you’ll need to make a small purchase of food or drinks. In the afternoon, we’ll continue our journey to cosmopolitan Cancun, where we’ll spend the night.

DAY 12January 27 | Sailing Tour to Isla Mujeres - Cancun

Today, if we choose, we’ll set sail for Isla Mujeres. As soon as we arrive at this little paradise on our sailboat, we’ll relax on the white sand, maybe bump into a local iguana, and just when we think today has it all, it’ll be time to dive into the gorgeous waters. If the weather and sea conditions permit, we’ll go snorkeling on the coral reef of Isla Mujeres, alongside rare exotic fish, and—if we’re lucky— dolphins or even sea turtles! If anyone doesn’t want to go to Isla Mujeres or would rather spend their time differently in Cancun, there’s the option to explore on your own.

DAY 13January 28 | Return to Greece

The moment has come that every traveler dreads, but every heart full of joy longs for… It’s time to say our own “Adios Muchachos.” We’re leaving Mexico behind, a country that gave us unforgettable experiences that have now become part of the stories we’ll tell. From the mists of the jungle and the secrets of the Maya to the turquoise waters of the Caribbean and nights filled with tequila and margaritas, this trip was more than just a route on a map. It was an unforgettable adventure that we experienced together. We’re heading to the airport for our return flight, but we’re not saying goodbye. Our suitcases may be returning full of souvenirs, and everyday life may be waiting for us, but what began on the streets of Mexico City and on the shores of Cancún doesn’t end here… Our trip to Mexico is coming to an end, but our appetite for the world has only just been whetted. We’re holding on to our photos, our laughter, and our memories, and we already find ourselves wondering… Where will our next destination be?
