Christmas in the heart of Europe, amid snow-capped Alps, fairy-tale towns, crystal-clear lakes, and some of the world’s most beautiful landscapes.
Switzerland in winter is an experience in itself. Snow-capped mountain peaks, Alpine villages, lakes that mirror the mountain peaks, historic towns with impeccable architecture, and a sense of order, elegance, and quality found in very few destinations in Europe. During the Christmas season, however, everything becomes even more special. The cities are lit up, the squares fill with festive stalls, the historic centers are decked out, and the aromas of mulled wine, Swiss chocolate, raclette, and fondue create a truly unique atmosphere. On this trip, we won’t be staying in just one region. We’ve designed a true Panorama of Switzerland so that, in six days, we can discover different facets of the country and some of the most beautiful corners of the Alps. Our journey begins in the fairytale town of Annecy, the “Venice of the Alps,” one of the most romantic cities in France, with canals, small bridges, and colorful houses lining the lake’s shores. We continue on to cosmopolitan Geneva, where international sophistication meets the charm of Lake Geneva, and experience one of the most beautiful Christmas evenings of the trip. On Christmas Eve, we travel to Lausanne, passing through the famous vineyards of Lavaux, and arrive in the elegant city of Montreux, where the festive market stretches along the lake and the snow-capped Alps create a scene straight out of a Christmas movie. On Christmas Day, we head to the heart of the country to explore medieval Bern, with its characteristic arcades, historic buildings, and the famous Clock Tower. We continue on to enchanting Lucerne, with its wooden Kapellbrücke, Lake Lucerne, and the majestic peaks of the Alps embracing the city. Zurich, Switzerland’s largest and most cosmopolitan city, becomes our next base. Old neighborhoods, historic churches, the famous Bahnhofstrasse, the lake, and the elegant Swiss way of life paint a completely different picture. And for those who want to experience the ultimate winter adventure, the trip offers the chance for a spectacular excursion by Alpine train into the heart of the Swiss Alps, bound for the legendary St. Moritz, one of the world’s most famous winter resorts. The Panorama concludes on the southern side of the country, where Switzerland takes on an almost Mediterranean character. In elegant Lugano, palm trees meet the Alps, and Italian architecture lends a completely different feel. And before heading back, we make a detour to Italy and the stunning Lake Como, while our final stop is Bergamo’s historic Città Alta, with its medieval alleyways, Piazza Vecchia, and one last authentic Italian coffee. Six days, three countries, dozens of different sights, and a journey that combines Christmas, the Alps, lakes, history, cosmopolitan cities, and unique itineraries. From the French elegance of Annecy and Geneva to the authentic Swiss heart of Bern and Lucerne, from glamorous Zurich and the snow-capped Alps to cosmopolitan St. Moritz, Italian-speaking Lugano, and Lake Como.
This isn’t just a trip to Switzerland. It’s a true Alpine and Christmas panorama.

We’ll meet on Wednesday, December 23, at 6:30 a.m. at “Macedonia” Airport. We’ll meet there and depart on a direct, chartered Aegean Airlines flight to Bergamo. We’ll arrive at 9:30 a.m., collect our luggage, and board the bus. Our adventure begins right away. We’ll leave Lombardy behind and head west, crossing northern Italy and gradually approaching the majestic mass of the Alps. As the journey unfolds, the landscape changes. The plains give way to mountains, and soon we cross into France, bound for one of the most charming towns in the French Alps. Arrival in the beautiful city of Annecy, built on the shores of the Alpine lake of the same name. Annecy is one of those towns that seem to have been created for photographs. Small canals crisscross the old town, colorful buildings are reflected in the water, stone bridges connect the picturesque alleys, and the peaks of the Alps rise up around the lake. We’ll stroll through the Vieille Ville, the beautiful old town, and we’ll explore the iconic Palais de l’Île, one of the most photographed buildings in France, built on a small islet in the Thiou River. We’ll walk down Rue Sainte-Claire, with its arcades and traditional shops, cross the small bridges, and reach the gardens and the lakeside area. During the Christmas season, the scene becomes even more beautiful. The alleys are lit up, the squares are decorated, and the scents of mulled wine, sweets, and savoyard delicacies fill the old town. Time for a stroll, photos, coffee, and a first taste of the festive atmosphere of the Alps. We’ll then head to neighboring Geneva. Upon arrival, we’ll get our first glimpse of the city. We’ll head to the shores of Lake Geneva, snap our first photos of the famous Jet d’Eau, and stroll through the Jardin Anglais, home to the iconic Flower Clock. And of course, since it’s just two days before Christmas, we’ll spend some time at Noël au Quai, Geneva’s large Christmas market right by the lake. Wooden chalets, Swiss delicacies, local products, mulled wine, and the illuminated lake make for a wonderful first evening in Switzerland. Afterward, transfer to the hotel and check-in. A first day that begins in Italy, continues in the French Alps, and concludes with a Christmas evening stroll through the heart of Geneva.
After breakfast, we begin our comprehensive tour of Geneva, one of Europe’s most cosmopolitan and international cities. The city is built where the Rhône River meets Lake Geneva and has been one of the most important centers of international diplomacy for decades. We’ll first head to the International Organizations district. We’ll see the imposing Palais des Nations, the European headquarters of the United Nations, the International Red Cross building, and the Place des Nations, featuring the famous “Broken Chair” sculpture. We’ll then head back toward the city center and the lakefront. We’ll get a closer look at the famous Jet d’Eau, see the Flower Clock, and head up to the historic Vieille Ville, Geneva’s old town. In the narrow cobblestone streets, we’ll come across the Place du Bourg-de-Four, one of the city’s oldest squares, and the imposing St. Peter’s Cathedral. We leave Geneva and follow the northern shore of Lake Geneva toward Lausanne. Built amphitheatrically above the lake, the city boasts a unique natural setting with views of the Alps across the water. We’ll walk through the historic center and see the imposing Gothic Lausanne Cathedral, City Hall, and the beautiful Place de la Palud. We’ll continue through one of the most picturesque regions in the country. The famous vineyards of Lavaux form successive terraces above Lake Geneva, creating a stunning landscape with the lake below and the Alps across the way. And we arrive in the elegant city of Montreux, one of the most famous resorts on the Swiss Riviera. We’ll stroll along the lovely lakeside promenade, past historic Belle Époque hotels and manicured gardens, and see the iconic statue of Freddie Mercury. But the big highlight of today is Montreux Noël. On Christmas Eve, hundreds of lights and more than a hundred wooden chalets create one of Switzerland’s most atmospheric Christmas settings. Here we’ll have time for shopping, mulled wine, hot chocolate, traditional raclette, and, of course, an authentic Swiss fondue. In the afternoon, we’ll return to Geneva.
Merry Christmas! Today we leave the French-speaking part of Switzerland behind and travel through the heart of the country, on a day filled with historic towns, lakes, and Alpine scenery. Our first stop is Bern, the federal capital of Switzerland. Its historic center stretches along a striking bend in the Aare River and is one of the best-preserved medieval ensembles in Europe. We’ll start in the Bear Quarter, home to the city’s symbol, and enjoy the panoramic view of the historic center. Crossing the bridge, we’ll enter the old town and walk beneath the characteristic covered arcades. We’ll see the impressive Zytglogge, the famous Clock Tower, the Cathedral, the house where Albert Einstein lived, the historic fountains, and of course the Bundeshaus, the Federal Palace. The tranquility of Christmas lends this already atmospheric city a completely different charm. Next, we’ll head to enchanting Lucerne. The city is nestled in a unique natural setting, where Lake Lucerne meets the peaks of the Alps. We’ll see the moving Lion Monument, stroll through the beautiful squares of the old town with their painted facades, and, of course, cross the famous Kapellbrücke, the wooden Chapel Bridge with its distinctive water tower. Time for a stroll along the lakefront and to enjoy the unique winter atmosphere. Late in the afternoon, we’ll continue on to Zurich. We’ll arrive at the luxurious 4-star Thessoni Boutique Hotel Zürich and check into our rooms.
Today could turn out to be one of the most memorable experiences of the entire trip. For those who wish, we’ll depart early in the morning for Chur, Switzerland’s oldest city and the capital of the canton of Graubünden. From here, we board the Rhaetian Railway’s Alpine train. And this is where the real journey through the Alps begins. As the train climbs higher, the scenery outside the windows changes constantly: deep valleys, rivers, forests, Alpine villages, impressive bridges, and—at this time of year—snow-capped peaks and snow-white landscapes. This is not just a trip but one of the program’s most memorable experiences. Arrival in the legendary St. Moritz, one of the world’s most famous winter resorts. St. Moritz has become synonymous with luxury, winter sports, and the international jet set. We’ll stroll through the elegant town center, past luxury hotels, traditional buildings, and boutiques of international brands, while the view of the frozen lake and the peaks of the Engadin creates a unique winter setting. Free time for coffee, lunch, and photos. In the afternoon, return by bus to Zurich. If you’re staying in Zurich, you’ll have the day free to explore the city at a more leisurely pace—stroll through the Old Town and along the lakefront, or visit one of the open museums and attractions.
After breakfast, we’ll begin our comprehensive tour of Zurich. Switzerland’s largest city is not only one of Europe’s most important financial centers; it is also an elegant lakeside city with an exceptionally well-preserved historic center. We’ll start with a panoramic tour of the modern neighborhoods and along the lake, passing by the Opera House and some of the city’s most distinctive buildings. Then our walking tour begins. We’ll explore the Grossmünster, with its iconic twin towers, the Fraumünster, St. Peter’s Church, and the picturesque Niederdorf district. We’ll walk along the Limmat River and arrive at the famous Bahnhofstrasse, one of Europe’s most renowned shopping boulevards. We’ll pass through the elegant Paradeplatz, the heart of the Swiss banking world, and enjoy our final views of Zurich. We leave German-speaking Switzerland behind and begin our spectacular descent southward. Soon, the scenery changes completely. We arrive in Lugano, the largest city in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino. Here, the Alps take on an almost Mediterranean character. Palm trees, Italian-style facades, elegant arcades, and a magnificent lake nestled among the mountains create a setting completely different from what we’ve seen in the past few days. We’ll stroll through Piazza della Riforma, the elegant alleys of the historic center, and along the lakeside boulevard. Free time for coffee and one last Swiss stroll. We’ll then cross the border into Italy and head to the area around the famous Lake Como. Arrival at the hotel and check-in.
Breakfast at the hotel and an early departure, as even the last day of our trip is filled with beautiful sights and experiences. Our day begins on the shores of the famous Lake Como, one of the most beautiful and most photographed lakes in Europe. Surrounded by lush green hills and the first Alpine peaks, with elegant villas, small villages, and lakeside gardens, the lake has been a favorite destination for centuries for artists, writers, and prominent figures from around the world. We’ll begin our tour in the city of Como, which is built on the southwestern end of the lake and boasts a particularly atmospheric historic center. Our tour begins at the lakeside Piazza Cavour, where we’ll capture our first beautiful views of the lake and the mountains surrounding it. We’ll then walk toward the heart of the old town and the impressive Cathedral of Como —the Duomo di Como, one of Lombardy’s most important monuments, which harmoniously combines Gothic and Renaissance architectural elements. Next to it stands the historic Broletto, the city’s old City Hall, with its distinctive colorful facade. We’ll continue through the picturesque alleys and small squares of the historic center, among traditional shops, cafés, and elegant Italian buildings. Of course, we’ll also spend some time on the beautiful lakeside promenade to bid farewell to Lake Como with the views that have made it world-famous. We’ll then head to the nearby Bergamo–Orio al Serio Airport. We’ll arrive with plenty of time to spare for check-in and security, and board the direct Aegean Airlines flight at 2:45 p.m. to Thessaloniki.
A unique six-day trip comes to a perfect end: from the French and Swiss Alps, the Christmas-themed towns and Alpine lakes, to the Mediterranean side of Switzerland and two of the most beautiful sights in northern Italy—Lake Como
