From Skyscrapers to Glaciers!

Imagine yourself sitting on a plane flying over endless landscapes, only to find yourself in Canada a few hours later. From Eleftherios Venizelos Airport, the adrenaline of departure hits the roof as you leave everyday life behind, only to find yourself a few hours later in the heart of Toronto, where the CN Tower pierces the sky and the energy of King West welcomes you. The adventure quickly escalates, as the next day you leave the skyscrapers behind for the ultimate natural spectacle of Niagara Falls, feeling the force of the water on your face from the deck of a boat or flying by helicopter over Horseshoe Falls. After strolling through St. Lawrence Market and the Distillery District, you fly west to Seattle, the gateway to the Pacific Northwest. There, you’ll board the MSC cruise ship, setting off on an epic voyage to wild Alaska.

You’ll stroll along the wooden piers of Ketchikan, the world’s salmon capital, “fly” on the world’s longest ZipRider over the fir trees, and experience total seclusion at Icy Strait Point, where you might spot humpback whales breaching. The cruise through Tracy Arm Fjord will treat you to views of sculpted icebergs and the sound of cracking ice, before you disembark in Juneau to explore the Mendenhall Glacier or experience gold panning in an authentic mine. Just before the cruise ends, the elegant city of Victoria, Canada, will welcome you to its illuminated harbor with the iconic Empress Hotel, offering a taste of old-world elegance. Disembarking in Seattle doesn’t mean the end, but the beginning of the final chapter.

You’ll cross the border by road and arrive in Vancouver, the city that will be the perfect finale to your adventure. It is the metropolis where the glass of skyscrapers meets the deep green of the forest. You’ll bike through Stanley Park next to the Native American totem poles, “sway” on the Capilano Suspension Bridge, and lose yourself in the flavors of Granville Island. And when the time comes to return to Greece, you’ll realize that these 14 days weren’t just a trip, but a sensory journey that made you part of a landscape few dare to explore, now with stories that need no filters to impress.

Field Trip Itinerary

DAY 1August 6 | Departure for TORONTO

The day begins at Eleftherios Venizelos Airport, where we all gather, full of anticipation. Our bags are packed, our passports in hand, and the feeling that we’re embarking on something truly unique is palpable. The conversations revolve around what we’ll see, what we’ll experience, and the excitement grows with every passing minute. As we pass through security and reach the gate, the thought that we’re leaving our daily lives behind to find ourselves among glaciers, bears, and fjords fills us with smiles. The plane takes off, and the journey begins… Once you’ve settled in, the night is yours. Anyone who’s up for it and wants to get a first taste of Toronto at night can go for a stroll, see the CN Tower lighting up the sky, and soak up the vibe of King West. You might want to enjoy a quick cocktail to “welcome” yourself, and then head back to the hotel to rest.

DAY 2August 7 | NIAGARA FALLS FULL DAY

Leave the skyscrapers and city traffic behind, and after a pleasant drive of about an hour and a half, you arrive at a truly spectacular natural wonder. You head to the legendary Niagara Falls, where nature displays all its power and you’re in the front row to experience it. Put your phone away for a moment (after taking that perfect photo, of course) and feel the awe this place inspires. Whether you see them with the sunlight creating rainbows, or catch them later illuminated in striking colors, the experience remains unique. It’s one of those moments when the grandeur of nature makes you forget everything else and simply enjoy the moment. At Niagara, the action doesn’t stop at the view, but in the experience. You can enter the “heart” of Horseshoe Falls by boat for a head-on encounter with the force of the water, or take off in a helicopter for the most breathtaking shot of your life from above. If you’re looking for an adrenaline rush, the Zip Line over the canyon and the Jet Boat through the river’s rapids will push you to your limits, while the Journey Behind the Falls brings you within breathing distance of the massive wall of water crashing down. It’s time to choose how you want to take on nature… Through the water, over the waves, or through the air?

DAY 3August 8 | Day off in TORONTO

Start your day with a visit to the iconic CN Tower to see the city from above, and if you’re looking for the ultimate adrenaline rush, try the optional EdgeWalk to literally walk and lean out into the void at 356 meters. This is the highest EdgeWalk (external building walk) in the world, and it even holds the official Guinness World Record as the “highest hands-free external building walk in the world.” Continue, if you like, with a stroll through the historic St. Lawrence Market, where you simply must try the traditional peameal bacon sandwich, and at lunchtime head to the Distillery District, an area featuring beautifully restored 19th-century industrial buildings filled with galleries, boutiques, and cafés. If the weather permits, take the ferry to the Toronto Islands to enjoy the most impressive view of the skyscrapers as they reflect on Lake Ontario, and round out your experience with some shopping at the Eaton Centre.

DAY 4August 9 | KENSINGTON MARKET - Flight to SEATTLE

Today, after breakfast, you can take a stroll through Kensington Market. It’s not just a neighborhood… It’s the colorful, alternative heart of Toronto, beating to a rhythm all its own. Imagine a maze of narrow streets where old Victorian houses have been transformed into vintage boutiques, tiny galleries, and ethnic corners exuding scents from every corner of the globe. It’s the perfect place to grab a coffee to go from the local roasters and wander at your own pace. Every wall here is a canvas, with striking graffiti and street art that’s constantly changing, making Kensington the most “Instagrammable” spot in the city, where every corner hides a new visual surprise. The energy here is incredible. It’s a vivid contrast to the glass skyscrapers of downtown, a place where bohemian culture meets multiculturalism. It’s the best way to say goodbye to the city before heading to the airport. That evening, you’ll arrive in Seattle, where we’ll spend the night.

DAY 5August 10 | SEATTLE - Departure for the cruise

We’re scheduled to arrive at the port at 1:00 PM so we can check in on the cruise ship. Until then, you’ll have some free time in the city. At 5:00 PM, the engines start up and the journey begins, filling you with the unbridled excitement of departure. It’s that magical moment when you stand on the deck, feeling the ship’s vibration, and watch the city skyline with its skyscrapers slowly shrink on the horizon until it becomes a line in the distance. Before you, the horizon changes dramatically as the vast Inside Passage opens up, one of the most breathtaking maritime routes on the planet. The air around you is heavy with the saltiness of the Pacific, cool and crisp, filled with the sense of the great adventure that has just begun.

DAY 6August 11 | ON BOARD

As our cruise ship glides through the calm waters of the Inside Passage toward picturesque Ketchikan, you’ll have plenty of time to discover all that the MSC Poesia has to offer. Relax on the deck and let your gaze drift toward the horizon, where the fjords meet the endless sea, or enjoy a meal in one of the restaurants with breathtaking views. Time flies by before you know it, as there are so many options to choose from. From relaxing moments in the lounges with live music and rejuvenating spa treatments to entertaining activities and shows.

DAY 7August 12 | Ketchikan

Around 7:00 a.m., you approach Ketchikan, and the scenery begins to change. You see wooden piers, colorful houses, and the rugged beauty of Alaska welcoming you. Known as the “salmon capital of the world,” this place is steeped in history and tradition, with dozens of totem poles, small museums, and flavors tied to the local way of life. The city stretches picturesquely along the coastline and climbs up the surrounding hills, offering stunning views of the sea and the dense forests that surround it. Until 5:00 PM, you’ll have free time to explore the city. Here you can stroll along seaside streets, perhaps spot wildlife on the shores, experience kayaking in tranquil fjords, or try hiking on the area’s lush trails. Please note! The optional activities offered by the cruise ship will be announced later!

DAY 8August 13 | ICY STRAIT POINT

At 10:00 a.m., as soon as you step off the ship, get ready for one of Alaska’s most authentic experiences. Here there are no roads or cars, just the wilderness and the warm hospitality of the Tlingit people. If you like, start your tour at the Hoonah Packing Company, an old salmon processing plant that’s now a beautiful area with local shops and restaurants. After that, you have two top options: Either hop on a boat for whale watching, since the waters here are considered the best spot in the world to see humpback whales, or take the cable car to the mountain peak. There, the ZipRider awaits you, ready to let you “fly” over the fir trees at a speed and with a view that will take your breath away! It’s 1,620 meters long, and the drop is higher than the Empire State Building! By 7:00 PM, you’ll already be aboard the cruise ship to continue your journey. Note: The optional activities offered by the cruise ship will be announced later!

DAY 9August 14 | TRACY ARM FJORD (SCENIC CRUISE)

A cruise through Alaska’s Tracy Arm Fjord is one of the most breathtaking experiences you can have on a ship, as it’s not a port where you disembark, but rather a “scenic cruise” (a panoramic tour from the ship). Imagine waking up in the morning to a scene that looks like it’s straight out of a documentary. The cruise ship glides silently through a narrow passage between towering 1,000-meter cliffs and rushing waterfalls, offering you the ultimate tranquility of Alaska as you enjoy your coffee on the deck. As you venture deeper into the fjord, you’ll be awestruck by the icebergs floating like natural sculptures around the ship, while your eyes search for seals basking on the ice, eagles, and even bears on the rugged shores. The highlight comes at the imposing Sawyer Glaciers, where the ship performs an impressive 360-degree turn so that, if we’re lucky, the "calving" phenomenon—the otherworldly sound of ice breaking and sinking into the crystal-clear waters.

At 2:00 p.m., we arrive in Alaska’s capital, Juneau. It is accessible only by ship or plane, creating a sense of isolation. We set sail again at 10:00 p.m., which means you’ll have plenty of time to explore it. Juneau is home to about 30,000 people. Its total area makes it one of the largest cities in the world by size. Only Kiruna in Sweden and Sitka in Alaska exceed Juneau’s 8,412 square kilometers. This city is famous not only for its gold but also for its stunningly beautiful glaciers. You can optionally take a tour of downtown Juneau as you head toward the imposing Mendenhall Glacier. Once you arrive, you’ll have about 90 minutes to view the exhibits at the Visitor Center, including a short film about the Juneau Icefield. Afterward, you can follow one of the many scenic hiking trails (self-guided) or head down to Nugget Falls, a spectacular double waterfall. Return to downtown Juneau for a ride on the Juneau Goldbelt Tram to Mount Roberts. Your ticket is valid all day and allows you to visit the mountain or take a detour into town, using the tram at your leisure. During the ascent, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the Chilkat Mountains, Stephens Passage, Douglas Island, and the Silver Bow Basin.

Another thing you could do is relive part of Juneau’s rich gold-mining history. In 1880, Joe Juneau and Richard Harris were searching for gold with the help of Native guides. After climbing mountains, crossing raging rivers, and facing countless hardships, they finally found gold nuggets. Their discovery led to three of the largest gold mines in the world. By the end of World War II, more than $150 million worth of gold had been mined. On this tour, you’ll be taken to the historic Alaska Gastineau Mill, where you’ll put on a hard hat and head down into the tunnel. Be careful—the temperature down there is around -2 °C. There, experienced miners will show you how they extract gold from the hard rock and give you a glimpse into the daily lives of the people who lived there. After a brief demonstration, you’ll try your hand at panning for gold, where you’re guaranteed to find gold in the sample you take. The more adventurous can join whale-watching tours, where whales and dolphins appear near the boat, or explore the hiking trails in the forests surrounding the town. For those interested in culture, the area’s small museums offer insights into the Tlingit people, their history, and their traditions.

DAY 10August 15 | ON BOARD

Today will be spent at sea. Forget about clocks and schedules. Here, the day begins with breakfast, with a view of the rugged beauty of the fjords passing by your window. It’s the perfect time to “get lost” in the ship’s countless nooks and crannies, from the decks that smell of the sea to the lounges.

DAY 11August 16 | VICTORIA, CANADA

At around 8:00 p.m., the ship docks in the elegant and vibrant city of Victoria, Canada! There, you’ll have the chance to get a quick but unforgettable taste of the most British city in North America! A two-hour stroll through the illuminated Inner Harbour (Inner Harbour), with the iconic Empress Hotel and the imposing Parliament Building as a backdrop, is the perfect way to soak up the atmosphere of Canada under the moonlight, just before returning to the warmth of your ship.

DAY 12August 17 | Arrival in SEATTLE - Departure for VANCOUVER

The cruise is over, but the adventure has just shifted to a new setting. With the spirit of Alaska still fresh in your mind, you set off on the road north, leaving behind the iconic Space Needle and the city’s hills. As you merge onto Interstate 5, the route begins to wind through the lush green landscapes of Washington State. To your left, Puget Sound offers glimpses of the ocean, while to your right the Cascade Mountains rise majestically. You approach Bellingham, the last major American city before the border, a place where the fir trees grow denser and the air cooler. A few kilometers later, you reach the Peace Arch, the iconic white monument standing right on the border. There, depending on traffic, you’ll wait for the stamp that officially marks your entry into Canada.

As soon as you cross, the landscape changes subtly. British Columbia welcomes you with a sense of order and absolute tranquility. You cross the fertile plains of the Fraser River delta, and suddenly, on the horizon, the glass towers of Vancouver begin to emerge, glistening in the light, with the snow-capped mountains of the North Shore protecting them from behind. You cross the Oak Street Bridge and enter the heart of the city. This drive isn’t just a means of transportation. It’s the bridge between the wilderness you’ve just left behind and the cosmopolitan energy of Canada’s westernmost metropolis, waiting for you to discover it.

Drop off your luggage and head straight to Gastown. Stroll through the cobblestone alleys and look for the statue of Gassy Jack, the eccentric character who opened a saloon for gold miners and unwittingly breathed life into this magical city. A few steps further on, you’ll find yourself in front of the famous Steam Clock, the clock that runs on steam and whistles every quarter hour, drawing travelers from all over the world. After getting a taste of history, continue your walk toward Chinatown, the second largest in North America, to see another, exotic side of the city. As the sun begins to set, head to Stanley Park, where nature blends with the urban landscape in a unique way. Rent a bike and start pedaling along the water, enjoying the sunset as it paints the ocean. Along the way, you’ll encounter an impressive collection of totem poles, some of which are authentic artifacts and others contemporary works by Indigenous artists, reminding you of this place’s deep roots. To wrap up your first night, Yaletown awaits you—a trendy neighborhood brimming with energy, restaurants, and bars, perfect for dining with your friends in a setting that oozes style.

DAY 13August 18 | VANCOUVER

Today, after breakfast, you headed up to North Vancouver to visit the Capilano Bridge. Walking above the trees, feeling the bridge sway gently over the gorge, is an unforgettable experience that offers you the ultimate connection with the region’s temperate forest. After this adventure in nature, head back to downtown and take the small ferry to Granville Island Public Market. There, you’ll dive into a world full of colors and aromas, strolling among stalls with fresh fruit, local products, and small restaurants inviting you to sample all kinds of delicacies. It’s the place where the flavors of Canada blend with the creativity of the artists who have their studios in the area. Spend your afternoon relaxing, sampling street food and watching the activity at the harbor, before taking one last stroll through Coal Harbour to watch the seaplanes take off in the afternoon light. Then relax on Kitsilano Beach, gazing at the skyline and the locals lounging on the sand, and for the grand finale, head to Yaletown. There, among old warehouses converted into chic lofts, you’ll enjoy the best sushi or seafood of your life, wrapping up your trip in the most cosmopolitan way possible.

DAY 14August 19 | Return to GREECE

Today, we’re skipping breakfast, as we’re heading to the airport very early in the morning to catch our flight back to Greece. You’re leaving with a collection of memories that will remain etched in your mind forever. Every glacier you saw, every fjord you crossed, every bear or whale you may have encountered, has left its mark on you. You return home not only with photos and souvenirs, but with a sense of adventure, freedom, and a true connection to nature. This journey doesn’t end with your return. In every memory, in every story you share, Alaska and Canada will live on within you, reminding you just how infinitely beautiful and enchanting the world is, waiting for you to discover it.
