Field Trip Itinerary

DAY 1THESSALONIKI – BERLIN – CITY TOUR – NIGHT WALK

We’ll meet in the morning at “Macedonia” Airport and fly to Berlin. Upon arrival at the airport, we’ll be greeted by our tour guide, a permanent resident of the city, who will guide us to ensure we enjoy a comprehensive and unforgettable experience in Berlin. On the way to the hotel, she will provide us with some basic information about the city, and immediately afterward, the panoramic tour will begin.

During the tour, we’ll see how historical and modern architecture coexist harmoniously, recounting the significant historical moments that shaped Berlin’s current image. From the iconic Brandenburg Gate to Karl-Marx-Allee, we will see how monuments from the royal era coexist with buildings of Socialist Realism, reflecting the city’s communist past. Near the historic Checkpoint Charlie crossing, the remnants of the Wall will transport us back to the events of the Cold War.

Next, crossing the imposing 17 June Avenue, we’ll admire the Victory Column and the city’s expansive central park, the Tiergarten. The Tiergarten, the green gem of the Mitte district, is one of Berlin’s most important green spaces and is home, among other things, to the famous Zoo, barbecue and picnic areas, as well as lakes perfect for relaxation. It is no coincidence that Berlin has more than 2,500 public parks and gardens, making it a true paradise for nature lovers.

After the tour, we’ll have free time in the city center to explore the many shops and cafes. Later, we will head to the hotel to check into our rooms.

In the evening, we’ll take a stroll through historic Alexanderplatz, where the famous World Clock, the impressive Neptune Fountain, and the imposing Berlin TV Tower, a symbol of the city. After the tour, you can enjoy a cold beer at one of the local pubs in the area or have lunch at one of the restaurants. As you walk through the central square of East Berlin, Alexanderplatz, you’ll come across street vendors with portable grills strapped to their bodies, ready to prepare Germany’s most famous street food: currywurst. This traditional sausage, which is boiled and then fried, is served sliced with a rich tomato sauce and sprinkled with curry powder, a culinary experience you won’t want to miss.

DAY 2BERLIN - SCHEUNENVIERTEL – MUSEUM ISLAND – SHOPPING CENTERS

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we set out on another fascinating city tour, with our first stop in the Scheunenviertel district. This historic neighborhood, with its narrow streets and low-rise buildings, transports us to Berlin’s past and, in particular, to the history of the Jewish community that flourished here before World War II. Today, the Scheunenviertel is one of the city’s liveliest and most artistic areas, full of art galleries, trendy boutiques, and cultural venues, such as the historic Volksbühne theater and the Babylon cinema.

Next, we head to one of the world’s most significant cultural complexes, the famous “Museum Island.” This unique complex is located on an island in the River Spree, in the historic city center, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to some of the world’s most important museums. The Pergamon Museum, the most popular attraction in the complex, remains closed due to extensive renovation work. However, visitors have the option of visiting the “Panorama of Pergamon, a modern exhibition space where, through impressive 3D imagery and digital technology, iconic Greek exhibits, such as the Altar of Pergamon and the Agora of Ancient Miletus, are presented, offering a unique and captivating experience.

Also worth mentioning is the Humboldt Forum, housed in the reconstructed Berlin Palace. The museum focuses on non-European art and global culture, hosting exhibits from Africa, Asia, and other regions of the world, such as masks from Cameroon, artifacts from Namibia, and ritual objects from India.

The rest of the day is free for you to explore the city at your own pace and return to the hotel on your own, whenever you wish. With the guide’s assistance, you can choose the sites that interest you most. Berlin’s shopping centers and markets are scattered throughout the city, with particularly popular areas being Unter den Linden and Friedrichstraße, while Kurfürstendamm is home to the iconic KaDeWe department store. Galeries Lafayette and the luxurious Quartier 206 are also worth a visit.

Alternatively, you can visit leisure attractions such as SEA LIFE Berlin, the Berlin Dungeon, or the famous Madame Tussauds. The Berlin Story Bunker is also of particular interest, where the city’s history unfolds within an authentic World War II bunker, with a focus on the most defining events in German history. For lovers of modern history, the DDR Museum is also highly recommended, as it presents daily life in East Germany during the Cold War in an interactive way.

DAY 3BERLIN – CHARLOTTENBURG PALACE GARDENS – POTSDAM – THE HAVEL RIVER – SAN SUSSI PALACES (Optional excursion)

Today, Saturday, you have the opportunity to spend your time however you like. For anything you need, don’t hesitate to ask your local friend for advice and suggestions; she can help you plan your day based on your interests.

Alternatively, you can join the full-day optional excursion to historic Potsdam. Along the way, we’ll stop at the famous gardens of Schloss Charlottenburg, a Baroque gem with a rich royal history. There, you won’t just take a stroll through nature, but you’ll have the opportunity to explore the history of horticulture and landscape architecture over the past 300 years.

After completing our tour of the impressive gardens, we will continue our journey to Potsdam, passing through historic streets that played a decisive role during the Cold War. Particularly noteworthy is the famous “Spy Bridge” (Glienicke Brücke), known for the exchange of spies between East and West.

Potsdam, located just 26 km west of Berlin, is the capital of the state of Brandenburg and an important part of Europe’s cultural heritage. The main attraction is the Sanssouci Palace complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of royal luxury and aesthetics.

In addition to the palaces, we will visit the picturesque Dutch Quarter, built by Dutch craftsmen between 1733 and 1742, as well as the Russian Quarter, known for its artistic wooden houses and lush green gardens. We’ll have free time to explore the city at your own pace, and we’ll return to the hotel in the early afternoon.

DAY 4BERLIN - RETURN FLIGHT

After enjoying our last breakfast and checking out of the hotel, our hearts now filled with beautiful images, unique experiences, and unforgettable memories, we will head to the airport for our return flight.

Berlin will remain vivid in our memory as a city full of contrasts and energy, a unique blend of history, art, and modern life. Until our next adventure, this trip will remain a special memory that will stay with us for a long time.
