You arrive at Zvartnots International Airport and are transferred to your hotel to drop off your luggage and rest. After breakfast, our tour of Armenia begins right away! Today we’ll explore Yerevan, one of the oldest and most vibrant cities in the world (with a history dating back to 782 B.C.). You’ll immediately understand why they call it the “Pink City” as you walk among impressive buildings made of pink volcanic stone. We’ll get a feel for the city’s vibe starting at Democracy Square, pass by the iconic Opera House, and continue along the cosmopolitan pedestrian promenade of North Avenue. The highlight of our stroll? The Cascade complex, an impressive open-air museum of contemporary art. If you climb the steps to the top, you’ll be rewarded with an incredible panoramic view of the entire city, with the majestic Mount Ararat in the background! The afternoon and evening are free for you to lose yourself in cozy cafes, sample the local cuisine at restaurants, and experience the vibe of Yerevan’s nightlife with the group. Overnight stay in Yerevan.
Today is dedicated to nature and outdoor activities in Dilijan National Park, offering a chance to fully immerse yourself in Armenia’s lush forests and tranquil mountain atmosphere. We begin with a visit to Goshavank Monastery, a medieval spiritual and educational center nestled among the forested hills of Dilijan. The monastery is known for its serene surroundings, its historical significance, and its intricately carved khachkars (stone crosses), which are outstanding examples of Armenian stonework. This is followed by a hike through Dilijan National Park toward Lake Parz. The trail is moderately difficult and particularly beautiful, offering fresh mountain air, the sounds of the forest, and panoramic views. Halfway through the hike, we’ll set up an outdoor picnic in the heart of the park. The hike ends at Lake Parz, a small alpine lake surrounded by dense forest, known for its calm waters—an ideal spot for relaxation and photos. If you’re looking for a thrill, at Lake Parz you can try ziplining over the water, test your balance with friends at the Rope Park, or simply relax on a boat ride. Just pick a local activity on the spot, pay right there, and off we go! Overnight stay in Dilijan.
In the morning, we have breakfast, pack our things, and head to the lush green village of Dsegh, the birthplace of the famous Armenian poet Hovhannes Tumanyan. The village is built in an incredible location and offers a unique view of the wild Debed River Gorge and the surrounding forests. Here, a fantastic horseback riding experience awaits us at Shakaryan Rancho! We mount our horses and ride across open fields and lush green hills, enjoying the tranquility of the Armenian countryside. We continue our journey toward the Sadakhlo border crossing to enter Georgia, with Tbilisi as our destination. On the way, we make a brief stop at the Haghpat Castle-Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a true masterpiece of medieval Armenian architecture. We arrive in Tbilisi, and the travel vibe of the Georgian capital immediately sweeps us away! We start with a fantastic walking tour through the narrow streets of the Old Town. Our first stop is the historic 13th-century Metekhi Church, which stands impressively on a rock, right above the river. From there, we’ll head uphill toward the iconic Narikala Fortress (4th century). Although it’s currently undergoing renovation, its exterior and the panoramic view it offers of all of Tbilisi are simply unbeatable! If you want to “fly” over the city, you can try the 280-meter zipline that starts at Narikala. On our way down, we pass by the famous, adobe-built Baths, the lively Meidan Square, and Shardeni Street with its cozy cafes and art galleries. We’ll get to know the city by walking across the ultra-modern, glass-encased Peace Bridge and wrap up our tour at the Anchiskhati Basilica (6th century), Tbilisi’s oldest and most atmospheric church. In the evening, we’ll all go out together for some bar-hopping and our first toast with Georgian wine. Overnight stay in Tbilisi.
After breakfast, you grab your backpack, we get into our vehicle, and the adventure begins with our first stop at the historic Ananuri Fortress (14th–17th centuries), which stands imposingly right above the crystal-clear blue waters of the artificial Zhinvali Lake. You’ll wander among its stone towers and walls, snapping the first great photos of the day. Our journey continues toward Gudauri, where we’ll stop at the famous Gudauri Viewpoint. It’s an impressive, circular balcony-like structure that seems to hang in mid-air, offering a breathtaking, panoramic view of the “Devil’s Valley” and the rugged mountain peaks of the Caucasus. Upon arriving in Stepantsminda, the focus shifts to gastronomy… We pull up a table at Keti’s Family Cafe for an authentic, traditional meal and learn the art of how to properly eat khinkali, Georgia’s famous handmade dumplings! Immediately afterward, the scene changes and the adrenaline kicks in as we hop into 4×4 vehicles for an off-road adventure on the slopes of Mount Kazbegi. Our destination is the secluded Gergeti Holy Trinity Church, one of the most photographed and atmospheric spots in the country. If the weather is on our side, you’ll see the majestic Mount Kazbegi towering before you at 5,047 meters! Overnight stay in Kazbegi.
After breakfast, you’ll start your day in the most authentic way possible… A 40-minute horseback riding experience on the lush green slopes of Kazbegi, with the majestic mountain scenery right beside you. Next, we head back to Tbilisi, but the route has some surprises in store. On the way back, if you want to experience the ultimate adrenaline rush, you can try tandem paragliding in Gudauri. You’ll soar high above the Caucasus gorges alongside a professional pilot, enjoying a breathtaking view. Upon arriving in Tbilisi, we’ll stop at one of the city’s most unique and impressive landmarks, the Chronicle of Georgia on Keeni Hill. It is Georgia’s “hidden” Stonehenge, a massive monument featuring 16 stone pillars reaching 35 meters in height, covered in relief carvings depicting the history of the country’s kings, with the so-called “Sea of Tbilisi” as a backdrop. The evening is free to go out with friends for bar-hopping, dining, and experiencing the vibrant nightlife of the Georgian capital. Overnight stay in Tbilisi.
After breakfast, we’ll head to Jvari Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site perched atop a hill. From here, you’ll enjoy one of the most famous and frequently photographed views in Georgia. This is where the waters of two different rivers, the Mtkvari and the Aragvi, converge, creating a stunning visual spectacle. Next, the scenery changes completely as we head to Uplistsikhe, an impressive rock-hewn city carved entirely out of the cliffs dating back to the 2nd millennium B.C.! You’ll wander through its secret stone passageways, exploring ancient temples, an old palace, the ancient theater, and even the remains of a pharmacy from that era. On our way back, we’ll stop in historic Mtskheta to visit the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. It is a masterpiece of medieval architecture and one of the most important spiritual centers along the ancient Silk Road; according to tradition, the Tunic of Christ is kept inside. We return to Tbilisi for our last night. It’s the perfect opportunity to take a stroll with the group through the Old Town, clink our glasses with local wine, and bid farewell to this eventful Georgian road trip. Late at night, we head to the airport to catch our flight back to Greece. This trip to the Caucasus isn’t just a tour of two countries, but a collection of powerful experiences and images that will stay with you for a lifetime. When you return, your luggage will be filled with the fresh mountain air, the warmth of Caucasian hospitality, the flavor of traditional khinkali, and the vibrancy of Tbilisi’s nightlife. If you’re looking for a getaway that strays from the usual tourist trails and offers a true adventure alongside people who share the same passion for discovery, then this trip is tailor-made for you.
