Field Trip Itinerary

DAY 1FLIGHT TO AMSTERDAM - HARLEM - NIGHT WALK

Meet at Macedonia Airport, board the Transavia flight, and depart for Amsterdam. A unique capital city, both romantic and modern, where the abundance of canals and the multiculturalism of its residents make it one of Europe’s most famous metropolises. As soon as we arrive, without wasting any time, we set off on an excursion to neighboring Haarlem, the city of flowers as the Dutch know it. This name is by no means coincidental, since almost everything we know about the country’s vast tradition of flower cultivation—and especially that of the tulip—began here. As early as the 15th century, trade was so flourishing that it even required technological innovations. Harlem was the first city to be connected by rail to Amsterdam in the mid-19th century to facilitate the flower trade. It would not be inaccurate to say that the Netherlands began to gain economic prominence precisely because of this city, leveraging its wealth to subsequently become a global colonial power. So we’ll take a stroll through the central square with St. Bavo’s Cathedral and walk through Haarlem to discover the color and character of this historic city. If you’re wondering what its name reminds you of, you’re right: Dutch colonists from Haarlem were the ones who founded the city of the same name in the New World, America. Next, transfer and check-in at the hotel. It’s your first night in the capital of the Netherlands, and there’s so much to do. Don’t forget that our tour guide is there to provide you with all the necessary information. Restaurants serving every kind of cuisine, bars, clubs, and Amsterdam’s cosmopolitan nightlife await you.

DAY 2AMSTERDAM - CITY TOUR - COSTER DIAMONDS

Breakfast at our hotel, followed by a tour of Amsterdam, a unique city that combines timeless charm with a modern vibe. The city’s magic is revealed through its countless canals and multicultural atmosphere. During our tour of the historic center, bordered by three main semicircular canals and hundreds of bridges, we’ll admire the impressive Rijksmuseum, the iconic Western Church, the imposing Royal Palace on Dam Square, and the floating Central Station. As we walk, we’ll cross Waterlooplein, Rembrandt Square, the flower market, and Rokin, ending up in the heart of the city, Dam Square. Next, we will visit Museum Square and the famous Coster Diamonds, where we will have the pleasure of seeing the diamond-cutting process up close. At the same time, we’ll admire rare historical jewelry and the house’s unique diamond collection. From there, we recommend enjoying a unique cruise experience on the city’s picturesque canals. Along this route, you’ll admire Amsterdam’s distinctive architecture and its most famous landmarks. From the Rijksmuseum and the Western Church to the Skinny Bridge and the iconic Amstel Hotel, the cruise will take you from the 17th century to modern-day Amsterdam, creating unforgettable memories. Free time in the city center for dining, strolling, and souvenir shopping.

DAY 3AMSTERDAM – ZAANSE SCHANS – VOLENDAM – EDAM

Today, you can spend another day in Europe’s coolest and most “free-spirited” capital. We recommend taking a stroll through the famous Albert Cuyp Market, one of the largest open-air markets in Europe. With more than 260 stalls filled with fresh fruit, vegetables, fish, clothing, and of course the beautiful, colorful tulips, this market is the ultimate spot to discover authentic Dutch flavors and aromas. Here, you’ll have the chance to enjoy an authentic stroll and sample local cheeses, purchase high-quality leather accessories, and of course savor the amazing pancakes with various delicious toppings, which are the ultimate street food and dessert.

Alternatively, you can join the optional excursion to the Dutch countryside, visiting three of the country’s most picturesque and authentic destinations: Zaanse Schans, Volendam, and Edam. A unique journey filled with images of traditional windmills, tranquil canals, fishing villages, and beautiful landscapes that capture the authentic Dutch atmosphere. The tour begins at Zaanse Schans, a living open-air museum that depicts Dutch life in the 18th and 19th centuries. Here we will admire the characteristic windmills, traditional wooden houses, and small workshops where cheese is made and wooden shoes are crafted. The area, with its lush green landscapes and authentic architecture, transports us to another era and is an ideal spot for photos and exploring the cultural heritage of the Netherlands. We continue to Volendam, one of the most famous and picturesque fishing villages in the Netherlands, built on the shores of Lake IJsselmeer. We’ll stroll through the beautiful little harbor with its traditional fishing boats, the charming wooden houses, and the numerous cafes and restaurants that preserve the area’s traditional character. The narrow alleys, local markets, and authentic village atmosphere create a scene straight out of a postcard. Our final stop is the idyllic town of Edam, the historic town that became world-famous thanks to its renowned cheese of the same name. We will explore the tranquil canals, small bridges, and beautiful traditional houses that make up one of the most charming landscapes in the Dutch countryside. The tranquility, cleanliness, and elegant atmosphere of the city will provide us with unique sights and moments of relaxation before we return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

DAY 4AMSTERDAM – THE HAGUE – RETURN FLIGHT

Breakfast at our hotel and departure for The Hague, the elegant city of the Netherlands that serves as the seat of the Dutch government, parliament, and many international organizations and courts. The Hague is the third-largest city in the Netherlands, a cosmopolitan city steeped in history, with imposing buildings, wide boulevards, and a unique atmosphere that harmoniously blends tradition with its modern character. During our tour, we will explore the historic city center and see the famous Binnenhof, the impressive complex of buildings that houses the Dutch parliament, built around a picturesque lake that lends a special beauty to the landscape. We’ll pass by the International Court of Justice in The Hague, known as the Peace Palace, one of the most important symbols of international justice and cooperation. Next, we’ll admire the elegant buildings, large squares, and shopping streets that give The Hague its unique character. We’ll have free time in the city center, where you can enjoy strolling through the lovely shops and cafes, or relax in one of its elegant squares. Those who wish can sample local flavors at traditional restaurants. We will then depart for Amsterdam Airport and board our return flight.
