DAY 1ARRIVAL IN KRAKOW – AUSCHWITZ–BIKENAU – FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF THE CITY

Meet at “Macedonia” Airport early Thursday morning, December 24, for check-in and the flight to Krakow. After retrieving our luggage, we’ll board the bus and depart for the Oświęcim area, where the Auschwitz–Birkenau Memorial and Museum is located. At one of Europe’s most significant memorial sites, we will respectfully learn about one of the darkest chapters in world history. The guided tour of the Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II – Birkenau presents evidence of the Holocaust and Nazi persecution, keeping the memory of the victims alive. After the tour, we’ll head to Kraków for our first exploration of the historic center, featuring the imposing Rynek Główny square, the Cloth Hall, and St. Mary’s Basilica. After receiving the necessary information from our guide, we’ll have some free time in the city center. Transfer to the hotel, check-in, and rest. In the evening, you can take a stroll on your own through the illuminated Old Town—after all, it’s Christmas Eve! Overnight stay in Kraków.

DAY 2CHRISTMAS IN KRAKOW – OLD TOWN – BABEL – KAZIMIERZ

Happy birthday! After breakfast, we’ll begin our in-depth tour of Kraków. Today is dedicated to the city itself, with walks and exterior visits that allow us to enjoy its history and Christmas atmosphere. We’ll see the medieval Barbican, St. Florian’s Gate, and walk along Floriańska Street to the large central square. The elegant facades, the Renaissance Cloth Hall, and the distinctive towers of St. Mary’s Basilica make up Kraków’s most recognizable skyline. We continue toward the historic university district and Grodzka Street, following the route up to Wawel Hill. We’ll learn about the history of the royal complex and admire the exterior of the castle and the cathedral from the areas that are accessible today. The view of the Vistula River completes the picture of the old capital. The tour continues to Kazimierz, the historic Jewish quarter, where we’ll see the old buildings, squares, and synagogues from the outside. Through our guide’s narration, we’ll learn about the city’s multicultural heritage. The rest of the day is free for relaxation, a stroll, and lunch at a place that’s open on Christmas Day. Enjoy Kraków at its most peaceful and authentic festive pace. You can visit the Christmas market in the central Rynek Główny square, where the open stalls offer handmade ornaments, mulled wine, traditional smoked oscypek cheese, sweets, and Polish delicacies. It’s also worth taking a stroll along the banks of the Vistula or through the illuminated alleys around Wawel, as well as attending a Christmas Mass at one of the city’s historic churches. Be sure to look for Kraków’s famous colorful Christmas nativity scenes, known as szopki, and round out the day with a traditional Polish meal or a hot drink at one of the cafes in the Old Town.

DAY 3KRAKOW – WIELICZKA SALT MINES – CZĘSTOCHOWA – WARSAW

Early in the morning, after breakfast and checking out of our rooms, we set off for the famous Wieliczka Salt Mines. Beneath the earth’s surface lies an impressive world of tunnels, underground chambers, and sculptures carved from salt. For more than seven centuries, generations of miners created a unique network of tunnels, chambers, and underground lakes deep beneath the earth. During the guided tour, we’ll gradually descend into the depths of the mine and follow a section of its historic route. We’ll see old mining facilities, sculptures carved into the salt, underground lakes, and impressive chambers. The highlight is the famous Chapel of Saint Kinga, a true underground church where the walls, reliefs, floor, and even the chandeliers are made of salt. The route is approximately 3.5 kilometers long, and the temperature inside remains constant at around 17–18°C. We continue with a stop in Częstochowa, the spiritual capital of Poland and one of Europe’s most important pilgrimage destinations. On the hill of Jasna Góra stands the imposing fortified Pauline monastery complex, which attracts millions of believers and visitors every year. At its heart is the famous icon of Our Lady of Częstochowa, considered the patroness of the country and one of the most important religious symbols of the Polish people. A visit on the second day of Christmas takes on a special character, with the bells, the services, and the presence of pilgrims creating a particularly devout atmosphere. Time for a personal tour, lighting a candle, and buying souvenirs.

DAY 4WARSAW – OLD TOWN – ROYAL ROAD – ŁAZIENKI PARK – MODERN CAPITAL

After breakfast, we begin our comprehensive tour of Warsaw, a capital city that combines royal grandeur, a dramatic history, and impressive modern development. Our tour begins in the restored Old Town—Stare Miasto. Although it was almost completely destroyed during World War II, it was reconstructed with exceptional precision and today stands as one of the finest examples of historical restoration in Europe. In Castle Square, we’ll see the Royal Castle and the Column of Sigismund III. Walking through the picturesque alleys, we’ll pass by St. John’s Cathedral and arrive at the central square with its colorful facades and the statue of the Gorgon of Varsovia, the city’s symbol. We’ll continue toward the old city walls, the Barbican, and the neighboring New Town. We then follow the famous Royal Route. Along Krakowskie Przedmieście, we’ll see the Presidential Palace, the University of Warsaw, St. Anne’s Church, and the Church of the Holy Cross, where the heart of the great Polish composer Frédéric Chopin is enshrined. We continue along Nowy Świat Avenue, with its elegant buildings and cafés, and arrive at the area around Three Crosses Square. We conclude with a modern view of the capital: the iconic Palace of Culture and Science, the glass skyscrapers, and the new business districts. You now have free time to do as you please; don’t forget that our guide is there to provide you with any necessary information. As night falls, Krakowskie Przedmieście and Nowy Świat offer a beautiful backdrop for enjoying the capital’s illuminated skyline.

DAY 5WARSAW – ŁAZIENKI PARK – VILANOV – RETURN FLIGHT

After breakfast, we check out of our rooms and load our luggage onto the bus. Our evening flight gives us time to explore even more of Warsaw. Today we’ll visit the Saxon Garden, the Monument to the Unknown Soldier, the Warsaw Uprising Monument, and the Monument to the Heroes of the Ghetto. Next, we’ll take a stroll through Łazienki Park, featuring the Chopin Monument and an exterior view of the Palace on the Water. We continue on to Wilanów, the royal residence of John III Sobieski, where we’ll discover a different, aristocratic side of Warsaw. We’ll admire the impressive Baroque palace from the outside, noting the elaborate decorations, the sculptures, and the distinctive golden-yellow hues of its facade. Next, we’ll stroll through its gardens, enjoying the serene winter atmosphere and the beautiful views of the palace. A delightful tour that transports us back to the era of the Polish royal court and offers wonderful photo opportunities. Afterward, we’ll have some free time in the city center before heading to Warsaw Airport, our minds filled with images of Poland at Christmas.
