We’ll meet at “Macedonia” Airport and take a direct flight to Vienna, the elegant capital of Austria. After arriving and collecting our luggage, we’ll meet our tour guide and immediately begin exploring the city. Even on the way to the city center, we’ll get our first useful information about Vienna, its history, and everything worth discovering over the next few days.
Our first panoramic tour introduces us to some of the Austrian capital’s most important sights. We pass by the distinctive Kunst Haus Wien, inextricably linked to the unique architectural world of Friedensreich Hundertwasser, and continue on to the imposing Belvedere, the Baroque palace complex originally built as the summer residence of Prince Eugene of Savoy and now home to one of Austria’s most important art collections. We continue to Karlsplatz, where the impressive Karlskirche stands out, and see the famous Musikverein, one of the world’s most important venues for classical music, known to millions of viewers from the famous Vienna Philharmonic’s New Year’s Concert.
We then enter the legendary Ringstrasse, the grand boulevard that encircles the historic center and is, in itself, an open-air architectural museum. Along its length, we’ll see the State Opera House, the imperial Hofburg complex, the imposing twin museums of Art History and Natural History, the MuseumsQuartier, the Austrian Parliament, the historic Burgtheater, City Hall, the University, and the impressive neo-Gothic Votivkirche.
And it’s around here that we really start to feel like we’re in Vienna at Christmas! In the City Hall area, we come across the famous Rathausplatz, which during the holiday season is transformed into one of Europe’s most spectacular Christmas settings. Illuminated trees, festive stalls, music, and aromas create the atmosphere that has made the Viennese holidays famous around the world. Try a hot Glühwein or Punsch, roasted chestnuts, Austrian sausages, and of course the famous Kaiserschmarrn, while ice skating enthusiasts can also enjoy the unique experience of ice skating amidst the city’s festive atmosphere.
We’ll then head to our hotel to check into our rooms and get some rest. But the day doesn’t have to end here. After sunset, Vienna becomes even more impressive, and an evening stroll through its illuminated historic center is well worth it.
Head to the famous Stephansplatz, with the imposing St. Stephen’s Cathedral, and continue along the elegant Graben and Kärntner Straße, among illuminated storefronts, historic buildings, cafés, and restaurants.
Our first encounter with Vienna ends just as it should: amidst the lights, the music, and the unique atmosphere of one of Europe’s most beautiful cities.
After a nice breakfast at the hotel, we begin our second and more “imperial” exploration of Vienna. Today we’ll leave the bus behind for a while and walk through the heart of the city, discovering not only its famous landmarks but also little corners that hide centuries-old stories.
We’ll start at Schwedenplatz and the historic Greek Quarter, where we’ll see the Greek Orthodox churches of St. George and the Holy Trinity, in an area inextricably linked to the presence and commercial activity of Greeks in Vienna. Through the picturesque alleys of the historic center, we arrive at Stephansplatz, where the imposing St. Stephen’s Cathedral stands out, one of the most important symbols of the Austrian capital. We continue on to the Imperial Crypt (Kaisergruft), the mausoleum of the Habsburg dynasty located beneath the Kapuzinerkirche, and head toward the State Opera House and the elegant Kärntner Straße.
Our walk continues to the majestic Hofburg, for centuries the center of Habsburg power; we pass through the impressive Heldenplatz —Heroes’ Square—and through the beautiful Naglergasse alley, we end up at Graben and Kohlmarkt, two of the most elegant streets in the historic center. Here you’ll also find the legendary Demel, one of Vienna’s most historic pastry shops, which still retains the atmosphere of the imperial era.
Afterward, you can stay in the city’s festive center and spend your time as you wish—strolling, shopping, visiting museums, enjoying coffee, and dining. Our guide will be at your disposal to suggest options based on your interests, and you can return to the hotel on your own at any time you wish. Schönbrunn & Belvedere If you’d like, join us on an optional excursion (€20) to two of Vienna’s most iconic landmarks: the famous Schönbrunn Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the impressive Belvedere Palace.
At Schönbrunn, we’ll have plenty of time so that everyone can choose how they want to experience the visit:
Stroll through the imperial gardens of Schönbrunn and enjoy the view of the majestic palace. Access to most of the gardens is free, and the imposing setting is one of the most beautiful spots in Vienna for taking photos.
Step inside the palace and discover the glittering world of the Habsburgs. Tour the imperial apartments of Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth—the legendary Sissi— through the magnificent reception halls and the rooms associated with Maria Theresa. Amid ornate halls and authentic spaces of the imperial court, you’ll gain a unique insight into the daily life of one of Europe’s most powerful dynasties. The Palace Ticket includes an audio guide, and the tour lasts approximately 75 minutes. Ticket price: €42 for adults and €30 for children ages 6–18.
Enjoy the unique atmosphere of the Schönbrunn Christmas market, right in front of the palace. Dozens of stalls offering handmade items, Austrian delicacies, and hot beverages create a wonderful setting, and after Christmas, the market continues as the New Year’s Market.
There’s another excellent option: the famous Tiergarten Schönbrunn, the oldest zoo in the world. Founded in 1752, it is now home to approximately 500 animal species, many of which are endangered. Admission: €29 for adults and €17 for children and teens ages 6–18. Children under 6 are free.
Belvedere Palace We continue on to the magnificent Belvedere, one of Europe’s most important Baroque palace complexes and the former summer residence of Prince Eugene of Savoy. We’ll have time to enjoy the palace’s exterior and gardens, one of Vienna’s most photographed spots, and, provided it’s open this year, we’ll also visit the palace’s Christmas market while soaking up the area’s unique festive atmosphere. Afterward, we’ll return to the hotel to rest.
An Evening with Mozart & Strauss And when you’re in Vienna, the world capital of classical music, there’s one experience that’s truly worth having: an authentic Viennese concert. Even if classical music isn’t your first choice, the atmosphere of a historic concert hall, the musicians in their formal attire, and the melodies of Mozart and the Strauss family create one of the most distinctive experiences of a trip to Vienna.
Depending on the date and performance schedule, we choose one of the city’s distinctive venues: the imposing Hofburg with the Vienna Hofburg Orchestra or the elegant Palais Börse with the Vienna Residence Orchestra. Be sure to make your reservation well in advance, as the best performances are in particularly high demand during the holiday season.
A day filled with imperial history, art, a festive atmosphere, and music comes to a close in the most Viennese way possible.
Breakfast at the hotel, followed by departure for a wonderful optional full-day excursion to Salzburg, one of Austria’s most beautiful and atmospheric cities and the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Leaving Vienna behind, we head west toward the heart of the Austrian countryside. As we approach the Alps, the landscape gradually changes: lush green valleys, forested slopes, picturesque villages, and majestic mountain ranges create a stunning route and reveal a completely different side of Austria.
Arrival in Salzburg, the famous “Rome of the Alps,” a city of unique architecture and cultural heritage, whose historic center has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Baroque elegance, the squares, the churches, and the medieval alleyways, set against the backdrop of the imposing Hohensalzburg Fortress, create a truly fairy-tale setting.
Our tour begins at the famous Mirabell Palace Gardens, one of the city’s most photographed spots. We pass by the Mozarteum, one of Europe’s most important musical institutions, and continue on to the Mozart family home.
Crossing the Salzach River via the Makartsteg Bridge—also known as the “Bridge of Locked Hearts”—we enter the famous Old Town. Through atmospheric arcades, small squares, and picturesque alleys, we arrive at the elegant Getreidegasse, Salzburg’s most famous shopping street, with its distinctive wrought-iron shop signs. This is also where Mozart’s birthplace is located, where the great composer was born in 1756.
We continue on to Residenzplatz, the impressive Archbishop’s Palace, and the majestic Salzburg Cathedral, and we’ll also explore the historic area of St. Peter’s Abbey, one of the city’s most important religious complexes.
After our tour, we’ll have free time in the heart of Salzburg to stroll, shop, and enjoy a coffee or lunch at one of the city’s traditional restaurants and historic cafés. Be sure to try the famous Mozartkugeln, the iconic chocolate treats that have become synonymous with the city.
In the afternoon, we’ll head back to Vienna, our minds filled with images of a city where music, history, and the Alpine atmosphere blend in a unique way.
If you’d rather not go to Salzburg, you’re welcome to join us on an optional visit to the famous Designer Outlet Parndorf, a true paradise for shopping enthusiasts. Designed as an elegant open-air shopping “village,” it features dozens of well-known international brands of fashion, sportswear, and accessories, all at discounted prices year-round. We’ll have free time to stroll around, grab a coffee, grab a bite to eat, and of course… do plenty of shopping! And trust us, no matter how much time you have, there will always be one more store you didn’t get a chance to visit.

1) UNESCO Alpine Train – Austrian Alps – Semmering – Hirschenkogel We’ll leave the imperial atmosphere of Vienna behind for a while and set off on a unique optional winter experience in the Austrian Alps. Just an hour away from the capital, the landscape changes dramatically, leading us to lush green—or, if the weather cooperates, completely white—mountains, dense forests, and traditional mountain villages.
Our first destination is Gloggnitz, where we’ll temporarily leave the bus to board the train and enjoy one of the most beautiful stretches of the historic Semmeringbahn. The Semmering Railway, built between 1848 and 1854, was a true technological feat for its time and is now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The entire historic Gloggnitz–Mürzzuschlag route is approximately 41 kilometers long and winds through a spectacular mountainous landscape, featuring tunnels, stone bridges, and imposing viaducts.
We’ll enjoy the most beautiful and impressive section of the route, from Gloggnitz to Semmering. As the train begins to climb in elevation, it passes through the Alpine landscape, crossing historic bridges and tunnels, with the highlight being the famous Kalte Rinne, one of the Semmeringbahn’s most distinctive two-story stone viaducts. After about 35–40 minutes, we arrive at the Semmering mountain station, at an elevation of nearly 900 meters, where the bus will be waiting for us again.
We continue on to Hirschenkogel, the well-known winter resort of Semmering. Here we’ll have free time to enjoy the authentic atmosphere of the Austrian mountains. People don’t just go to Semmering–Hirschenkogel to ski—there are plenty of other great things to do there. A gondola ride to take in the views and the snow, sledding (Rodeln) for kids and adults, snow hiking, snowshoeing, Eisstockschießen, the Austrian ice game similar to curling, a spa/indoor pool, and a sauna at the Sporthotel. Of course, you can simply enjoy a hot drink or a meal at the chalet with your friends.
In the afternoon, we head back to Vienna, carrying with us memories of a completely different Austria: the Austria of the Alps, historic trains, and snow-capped mountains. Arrival in Vienna and free time to continue our strolls through the city aglow with lights and its famous Christmas markets. Overnight stay in Vienna.
2) Austrian Lakes – Hallstatt & Gmunden – Winter Cruise on Lake Traunsee WINTER LAKES EXPERIENCE – HALLSTATT • GMUNDEN • TRAUNSEE • WINTER CRUISE • AUSTRIAN ALPS A day full of stunning views, lakes, the Alps, and the enchanting Hallstatt, culminating in a warm and comfortable cruise through the winter landscape of the Austrian Alps.
Discover a different side of Austria on a unique day trip from Vienna to the heart of the beautiful Salzkammergut. Picturesque villages, alpine landscapes, lakes, and a unique winter cruise on a heated boat come together to create an experience that blends nature, relaxation, and an authentic Austrian atmosphere.
We depart in the morning from Vienna, heading to Hallstatt, one of Austria’s most famous and frequently photographed destinations. Nestled between the majestic slopes of the Alps and the tranquil waters of the lake, Hallstatt takes on a special charm in winter. Upon arrival, we’ll have free time to stroll through the village’s picturesque streets, enjoy the view of the lake, take photos against the unique Alpine backdrop, visit the small shops, or relax with a coffee or a hot drink.
We’ll then head to Gmunden, a beautiful Austrian town on the shores of Lake Traunsee, surrounded by the peaks of the Alps. Here we’ll have free time for lunch, coffee, or a stroll around the area—with no set group menu—so everyone can freely choose how they want to spend their time.
🚢 The highlight of the day In the afternoon, we’ll board the heated boat for a special Winter Cruise on Lake Traunsee. For about an hour, we’ll cruise across the calm waters of the lake, enjoying the impressive views of the Austrian Alps and the picturesque villages surrounding Traunsee from the warmth of the enclosed lounge. The winter cruise also includes a hot beverage, making the experience even more enjoyable. There’s no need to worry about the cold; the boat has a heated interior lounge, so we can enjoy the lake in comfort even in the middle of winter.
After the cruise, we’ll have a little more free time in Gmunden for one last coffee, a stroll along the lake, or a few photos before heading back.
Late in the afternoon, we’ll depart for Vienna, having explored one of Austria’s most beautiful regions and enjoyed a truly unique winter experience.
