Meet at “Macedonia” Airport early in the morning and take a direct flight with Aegean Airlines to Brussels. Upon arrival, we’ll board our bus and depart for Belgium’s second-largest city, the impressive Antwerp, built on the banks of the Scheldt River. It is Belgium’s largest port and one of the country’s most dynamic cities, known for its commercial heritage, art, fashion, and long history of diamond processing.
Our tour of Antwerp begins in the historic city center, where we’ll admire the imposing Cathedral of Our Lady, one of Belgium’s most important Gothic monuments, as well as the impressive City Hall in the central square. We’ll stroll through the picturesque alleys of the old town and along the famous shopping street, and we’ll also see the Boerentoren, one of the city’s most distinctive buildings and one of Europe’s first skyscrapers.
Antwerp hides little surprises around every corner: chocolate shops, art galleries, antique shops, elegant cafés, diamond stores, and boutiques by Belgian designers, all of which highlight its creative and cosmopolitan character. There will be time for a short stroll, some shopping, or a coffee, so we can get a first taste of the city’s atmosphere. Free time for lunch and souvenir shopping in the city center.
Then we’ll head to Bruges, with a stopover in Ghent, a city that harmoniously blends its medieval heritage with the lively and youthful character of a modern Belgian city. Ghent, built at the confluence of rivers and canals, was one of Europe’s most important commercial and economic centers during the Middle Ages, a fact that is still evident today in its imposing buildings and the atmosphere of its historic center.
During our tour, we will see the impressive City Hall, the Government House, and the Church of St. Nicholas, one of the city’s oldest and most distinctive landmarks. We will also visit the imposing Cathedral of St. Bavo, where the famous work by the Van Eyck brothers, “The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb,” one of the greatest masterpieces of Flemish painting. As we stroll through the historic center of Ghent, we’ll enjoy the city’s unique atmosphere, the canals, bridges, medieval facades, and picturesque alleys that create a setting steeped in history and romance.
Next, we’ll head to Bruges, one of the most idyllic and romantic cities in Europe. Upon arrival, we’ll check in at our 4-star hotel, Le Bois de Bruges, and have some time to relax. In the evening, you can take advantage of the hotel’s prime location in the heart of Bruges for a first atmospheric stroll around the 't Zand square area and then toward the historic center. Within a few minutes’ walk, you’ll find yourself among illuminated canals, cobblestone alleys, small squares, chocolate shops, and cozy cafés, getting your first taste of the magic of the “Venice of the North.”
We have breakfast and set off on a journey back in time to the fairytale city of Bruges, one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval cities. Charming cobblestone streets, romantic canals, stone bridges, and imposing medieval buildings come together to create a setting of unique beauty, which has rightly earned it the title of “Venice of the North”.
Our tour begins on the city’s main shopping street, where we’ll admire the Cathedral of Saint-Sauveur, the oldest church in Bruges and one of its most important religious monuments. The cathedral, with a history dating back to the Middle Ages, is a prime example of the city’s ecclesiastical architecture and stands imposingly in the historic center.
Next, we’ll arrive at Grote Markt, Bruges’ central square, which has remained a hub for gatherings, commerce, and social life from the Middle Ages to the present day. Here stands one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, the famous Belfort, with its 47 bells and 366 steps, which once housed the treasury and municipal archives, and also served as a lookout to spot fires and other dangers.
On our tour, we will also admire the Bruges City Hall, an impressive Gothic building located on Burg Square and one of the oldest city halls in the Low Countries. In the same area, we’ll also see the Roman Catholic Basilica of the Holy Blood, a unique 12th-century religious monument known for its rich decoration and the sacred relic which, according to tradition, is associated with the Holy Blood.
Our tour continues to the Church of Our Lady, the Notre-Dame of Bruges, with its impressive tower rising to a height of approximately 120 meters. Inside, one of the city’s most important artistic treasures is housed: the white marble sculpture of the Virgin Mary with the Infant Jesus, known as “Madonna and Child,” a work by Michelangelo, created around 1504.
We will also visit the historic St. John’s Hospital, one of the oldest preserved hospital complexes in Europe. The site is linked to the history of healthcare, art, and daily life in medieval Bruges, and houses masterpieces by the Flemish painter Hans Memling, as well as contemporary works of art.
Our walk will take us to Minnewater Lake, the romantic “Lake of Love,” and the Lovers’ Bridge. According to local legend, anyone who kisses their beloved on the bridge will be granted eternal love. It’s one of the city’s most atmospheric spots and perfect for taking photos and a leisurely stroll.
Next, we’ll enjoy one of the sweetest experiences of our trip with a visit to the Choco-Story Bruges Chocolate Museum. The visit includes pre-purchased tickets, an audio guide, a chocolate-making demonstration, and a tasting. During the tour, we’ll learn about the history of chocolate, from its origins to the Belgian tradition that made it famous around the world.
Later, we invite you to join us—if you’d like—for a boat ride through the canals of Bruges. It’s one of the most beautiful ways to enjoy the city from a different perspective, passing under stone bridges and alongside medieval facades reflected in the calm waters of the canals.
After the tours are over, you’ll have free time to enjoy Bruges at your own pace. You can visit one of the city’s famous chocolate shops, sit down for a coffee or a waffle in one of the charming squares, or return to the hotel to rest. In the evening, the illuminated city of Bruges is perfect for yet another romantic stroll through its cobblestone alleys.
We have breakfast and set out on a special optional day trip to two authentic Belgian cities, Kortrijk and Tournai. These two cities, along with Lille in France, are part of the cross-border Lille–Kortrijk–Tournai Eurometropolis, a region where Flanders, Wallonia, and northern France have historically, culturally, and economically converged.
Our first stop is Kortrijk, a charming Flemish city built on the banks of the Leie River. With a history linked to trade, textiles, and medieval Flanders, Kortrijk retains a unique character to this day, combining its historical heritage with a peaceful, modern, and welcoming atmosphere.
During our tour, we’ll see the iconic Broel Towers, the two medieval towers standing opposite each other on the riverbanks and serving as the city’s most recognizable symbol. We’ll walk along the Leie, enjoying the beautiful view of the city by the water, with bridges, small squares, and atmospheric spots perfect for photos and a leisurely stroll.
Next, we’ll explore the historic center of Kortrijk, featuring the central Grote Markt square, City Hall, and the city’s bell tower, all of which reflect its significance during the Middle Ages. Of particular interest is the Begijnhof, a quiet historic site with distinctive houses and courtyards that captures a more intimate and serene side of Flemish tradition.
There will be time for a coffee or a short stroll through the city center to enjoy the city’s authentic rhythm before we continue our journey to Tournai.
Our next stop is Tournai, one of Belgium’s oldest cities and one of Wallonia’s most interesting destinations. The city stands out for its French-speaking atmosphere, its rich history, and its magnificent monuments, offering a different view of Belgium from that of the Flemish cities we’ve visited in recent days.
Our tour begins at the Grand-Place, Tournai’s central square—an open and lively space with beautiful buildings, cafés, and restaurants. From here, we’ll admire the city’s impressive bell tower, one of its most important historical symbols, as well as the architectural atmosphere that gives Tournai its unique character.
Next, we’ll visit the imposing Notre-Dame de Tournai Cathedral, one of Belgium’s most significant religious monuments and a landmark of the city. With its distinctive towers and centuries-old history, the cathedral is a striking example of the transition from Romanesque to Gothic architecture and gives Tournai a distinctive monumental identity.
Strolling through the historic center, you’ll discover a quieter, more authentic, and less touristy town, with squares, narrow streets, and hidden corners that reveal its history without fanfare. Tournai is a destination that doesn’t impress with noise, but with its atmosphere, its antiquity, and the feeling that we’re getting to know a different, more profound side of Belgium.
There will be time for a meal, coffee, or a leisurely stroll around the Grand-Place area before we head back to Bruges. In the evening, you can enjoy another stroll along the illuminated canals and cobblestone alleys of Bruges or sit at one of the atmospheric cafés and restaurants in the historic center, ending the day on the sweetest note.
Our last day begins with a visit to the capital of Belgium, before our return flight. After breakfast and once we’ve packed our bags, we’ll head to Brussels, where we’ll start with a panoramic tour of the city’s most important sights.
Our first stop is the iconic Atomium, one of Brussels’ most recognizable landmarks. This impressive architectural creation, which combines science, technology, and art, is a landmark of the city and one of its most distinctive monuments.
Next, we’ll head to the Laeken area, where we’ll see the exterior of the Royal Palaces, the church of the same name, as well as the Japanese Tower and the Chinese Pagoda, features that lend the area a unique and exotic character.
Our tour continues through the city’s elegant neighborhoods and to its major landmarks. We’ll pass through Grand Sablon Square, known for its atmosphere, elegant shops, antique stores, and chocolate shops, and we’ll admire the Gothic Church of Our Lady of Sablon. We’ll also see the imposing Palace of Justice, one of Brussels’ most iconic buildings, as well as the area around the Museum of Fine Arts and Place Royale, near the Royal Palace.
Next, we’ll explore the European Quarter, where the heart of the European institutions beats. Here you’ll find, among others, the European Council, the European Parliament, and the delegations of the European Union’s member states, giving the city the character of a true European capital.
Our tour continues past the Arc de Triomphe to the Cinquantenaire Park and the imposing Cathedral of Saints Michael and Gudula, before ending up in the historic center and the famous Grand Place. Brussels’ central square, with its impressive City Hall and ornate guild houses, is one of Europe’s most magnificent architectural ensembles and the perfect spot for our final photos.
After our tour, we’ll have free time in downtown Brussels for a final stroll, to do some shopping, enjoy a traditional meal, or sample Belgian delicacies such as waffles, chocolate, and some of the famous Belgian beers.
Later, we’ll head to Brussels Airport, where we’ll catch our return flight. Our trip comes to an end, filled with memories, experiences, and beautiful moments from Bruges, Flanders, Wallonia, and Brussels, with the promise that our next travel adventure won’t be long in coming.
