Thessaloniki "Macedonia" Airport (Google Maps)
The big moment has arrived! Today we’re gathering at the airport, bound for one of the most exciting and contradictory places in the world: India. This is the beginning of a journey unlike any other. Here, in the departure lounge, we’re not just travelers sharing a flight—we’re companions on an experience that will bring us together. We may start out as strangers, but by the end we’ll have shared sights, flavors, laughter, and moments that will never be forgotten. This journey isn’t just about seeing India—it’s about feeling it and hearing its heart beat in its streets. And we’ll do that together. If you’re feeling even a little nervous, that’s perfectly normal. But very soon, that nervousness will turn into excitement. Because this trip will fill you with experiences that can’t be described—only lived. Get your passport ready, smile, and board the direct flight to Delhi.
Today, after breakfast, we’ll make our first stop at the Red Fort, the former residence of the Mughal emperor, located in the center of Delhi and now home to museums. It was built in 1648 and served as the center from which all critical political decisions were made. We’ll delve even deeper into the political history of this important country by visiting Raj Ghat, the memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. “Mahatma” means “Great Soul” in Sanskrit. Next, we’ll admire yet another breathtaking masterpiece. This is Akshardham, which encapsulates all the grandeur, beauty, and wisdom of 10,000 years of Indian civilization. The Swaminarayan Akshardham complex was built in just five years, with the blessings of Pramach Swami Maharaj and the tremendous effort of 11,000 artisans, as well as thousands of volunteers. In fact, it holds the Guinness World Record as the world’s largest Hindu temple, and we’ll stay there until evening to enjoy the spectacular show featuring fountains, music, and lasers. When we visit a new country, one of our favorite things to do is explore local markets. So, we’re heading to the “moonlit market,” also known as Chandni Chowk, taking a unique ride in a traditional rickshaw, and we’ll also stop at the famous Paranthe Wali Gali alley to sample authentic street food and the old city’s famous stuffed pastries. In the afternoon, if you’d like, you can take a walk through Connaught Place, one of the largest financial, commercial, and business centers in New Delhi. It is home to the offices of several companies, as well as department stores. Before Connaught Place was built, the area was covered in trees, and its inhabitants were jackals and wild boars!
After breakfast, we leave the capital behind and set off by road toward the legendary state of Rajasthan and the Pink City, Jaipur. The journey is full of surprises! Along the way, we make an incredible stop at the traditional village of Kalako, where we board a Juggad—a unique, local open-air vehicle, for an authentic ride through the Indian countryside and a glimpse into the daily lives of the locals. Just before we enter the city, a deeply mystical experience awaits us… We visit the ancient Hindu temple of Galta Ji, also known as the “Monkey Temple.” Built among narrow, rocky hills, the temple resembles a forgotten palace, filled with sacred water tanks (kunds) where pilgrims bathe, and hundreds of monkeys roaming freely. In the evening, we arrive in Jaipur. The welcome is regal, as we’ll enjoy a traditional dinner in a palace, accompanied by local Rajasthani folk dances. Tonight we’ll spend the night in Jaipur.
Today is dedicated to the wonders of the Pink City. We start the morning with a climb up to the imposing 17th-century Amber Fort, a unique experience as we’ll climb the hill on majestic elephants (or alternatively by jeep), taking in the breathtaking fortifications. On the way back, we’ll stop for photos at the legendary Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds) with its incredible pink facade and 953 small windows. We’ll continue with a guided tour of the City Palace, the Maharaja’s Palace, which houses museums featuring rare weapons, carpets, and royal attire, as well as the historic Jantar Mantar observatory. In the afternoon, you can participate in an optional Bollywood dance class. You’ll learn the basic, rhythmic moves you see in famous Indian movies, and, if you’d like, you’ll be provided with traditional clothing and costumes to fully immerse yourself in the role. If you don’t choose this activity, you can spend your free time shopping. In the evening, we’ll visit the marble Birla Temple to witness the Aarti religious ceremony—a group prayer accompanied by hymns and lights that will leave you in awe. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.
Get ready for the “wildest” adventure of the trip! We’ll wake up very early in the morning and depart from Jaipur for a full-day excursion to the world-famous Ranthambore National Park, one of the best places in the world to see wildlife. Upon arrival, we’ll board open-top 4×4 vehicles and head deep into the jungle. With a half-ruined 10th-century fort standing atop the hill as a backdrop, we set out on an exciting safari with the goal of spotting the majestic Bengal tiger. In addition to tigers, keep your eyes peeled for leopards, crocodiles, sambar deer, and rare birds living undisturbed in their natural habitat. Filled with adrenaline and incredible camera shots, we head back to Jaipur in the afternoon. Relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay.
After breakfast, we bid farewell to the Pink City and head for Agra. The route is steeped in history. Our first stop is Abhaneri, where we’ll admire the Chand Baori, a stunning 1,500-year-old stepwell with 3,500 perfectly symmetrical steps that looks like a work of art. Next stop: the “red” fortified city of Fatehpur Sikri, the imperial city of the Mughals that was mysteriously abandoned just a few years after its construction. In the afternoon, we arrive in Agra and head straight to the Mehtab Bagh gardens on the opposite bank of the Yamuna River to enjoy the most breathtaking, panoramic view of the Taj Mahal as the sun sets and the white marble changes colors. Afterward, you can optionally participate in an Indian cooking class. Instead of the usual hotel dinner, you’ll have the chance to step inside an authentic Indian home. A local family will welcome us into their kitchen to teach us the secrets of spices. You’ll learn how to make traditional Chicken Tikka Masala, aromatic vegetable dishes, and how to make your own naan or roti bread. At the end, we’ll all sit down together at the table to enjoy the sumptuous meal we’ve created. Overnight stay in Agra.
We start early in the morning with a guided tour of the world’s most famous monument, the magnificent Taj Mahal. Built of pure white marble by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, this monument to absolute love will leave you breathless. We’ll stroll through the gardens and admire up close the incredible pietra dura art (semi-precious stones inlaid into the marble). Next, we’ll visit the Agra Fort, a massive red sandstone citadel with double walls that was home to the Mughal dynasty. At noon, we head back to Delhi, making a stop in the historic city of Mathura, the legendary birthplace of Lord Krishna. Check-in at the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.
Our day begins with a visit to one of India’s most elegant monuments, the Humayun’s Tomb. Built in 1570, it holds special significance as it was the first garden tomb on the Indian subcontinent and served as the primary architectural inspiration for the construction of the legendary Taj Mahal. Next, we’ll drive along the wide boulevards of New Delhi to reach India Gate, the imposing India Gate, a 42-meter-tall monument built in honor of the soldiers who lost their lives in World War I. Nearby, we’ll discover an oasis of greenery and tranquility in the midst of this bustling city: the Lodi Gardens. There, we’ll stroll among beautiful trees and scattered, imposing tombs dating back to the 15th century, a place where locals love to relax away from the hustle and bustle. Our afternoon will become even more memorable as we visit the Qutub Minar, a unique 73-meter-tall brick minaret, which is the tallest in the world and is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A little further on, we’ll admire the Lotus Temple, a modern architectural marvel shaped like a half-open lotus flower and open to people of all faiths. We’ll end our day in the most beautiful way possible by visiting the Dilli Haat open-air market. It is a traditional, spotlessly clean village-style market where artisans from every corner of India come to sell their own unique handmade items, silk fabrics, and jewelry, giving us the chance to enjoy a wonderful dinner featuring flavors from different provinces of the country!
After all the places you’ve visited, all the experiences you’ve shared, and all the images that will remain indelibly etched in your memory, it’s time to catch your flight home. These days in India weren’t just a trip on the map. You’re leaving here richer in emotions and memories. This experience has changed you and given you stories you’ll be telling for a long time to those who didn’t share them with you. India isn’t just a country you visit… It’s a country that stays with you forever. As the plane takes off, you know that a part of you remains behind, among the kings’ castles and the waves of the ocean.
