It is known as the “Paris of the Balkans” or Little Paris, and in the summer it reveals its liveliest and brightest side. The city stands out for its rich history, elegant mansions, impressive boulevards, and atmospheric parks that come alive under the summer sun. The historic center is magnificent and has nothing to envy of the major capitals of Central Europe, while the open-air cafés, trendy bars, and open-air music venues create a constantly vibrant atmosphere. You’ll be impressed by Ceaușescu’s megalomania “carved” into the marble of the second-largest building on the planet, strolling through the old town’s narrow streets and soaking up the vibrant summer energy, as well as escaping to the lush Carpathians with their fairytale landscapes and the coolness of nature. We’ll meet in the afternoon at “Macedonia” Airport, go through security, and take a direct flight to cosmopolitan Bucharest. Arrival in the Romanian capital and transfer to our central hotel to check into our rooms. In the evening, we’ll discover the city’s enchanting side through an enjoyable walking tour by night, perfect for all ages. Accompanied by our guide, we will stroll through the picturesque alleys of the old town, where historic buildings are illuminated, creating an atmosphere full of romance and vibrancy. We’ll see traditional mansions, cobblestone streets, and impressive squares that evoke a bygone era, while all around us, cafes, restaurants, and trendy bars fill the city with music. A first encounter with the “Little Paris of the Balkans” that will impress you from the very first night.
We’ll enjoy a hearty breakfast at the hotel and then set out on a city tour. Our first stop will be at one of Bucharest’s top attractions, the famous Palace of Parliament. The Palace of Parliament, also known as the “People’s House,” was commissioned by Nicolae Ceaușescu, the dictator of Romania, and was built between 1984 and 1997. Its construction began as a result of Ceaușescu’s grandiose vision and eventually became the largest building in Europe and the second largest in the world. Next, we will see the Cathedral of the Salvation of the Romanian People, which, upon completion, will be the largest functioning Orthodox cathedral in the world, and the Ateneum, the country’s most renowned concert hall. We will visit the Village Museum, unique in its kind, with more than 300 wooden houses, windmills, churches, and other structures showcasing architecture from all regions of the country. Each wooden structure originates from a different region of the country, depicting rural life. Among the buildings, you can admire farmhouses, windmills, and churches, while the signs on them inform you of their place of origin and construction. We will continue our tour of the city, admiring the royal family’s palace, the Greek church reminiscent of the Parthenon, the Military Academy, the Arch of Triumph, inspired by the one in Paris, the complex that serves as the seat of the Orthodox Patriarchate of Romania, the Firefighter’s Museum, and more. Afterward, join us for an optional visit to Therme Bucharest Park & Spa. It resembles a tropical island, a true paradise just twenty minutes from downtown Bucharest. A 30,000-square-meter wellness, relaxation, and entertainment park featuring 8 indoor and outdoor thermal pools filled with thermal water. There you will also find Romania’s largest indoor and outdoor garden, with over 800,000 plants and hundreds of tree species, including the largest area with real palm trees in Europe. The thermal water in the complex’s pools comes from a depth of 3,100 meters, while the temperature in the Therme Bucharest Park atmosphere remains constantly between 29 and 30 degrees Celsius. Return to the hotel and free time to stroll on your own along the city’s boulevards and through the alleys of the historic center.
After breakfast, we set out on an optional day trip to the legendary Carpathian Mountains. After crossing the Prahova River valley, we arrive in Sinaia, the “Pearl of the Carpathians,” where we will visit Peles Palace, the summer residence of King Carol I, the first King of Romania. Next, we’ll see the Sinaia Monastery along the way, the first building constructed here, from which the town takes its name. We then depart for Bran, where we will visit the famous Bran Castle, known as “Dracula’s Castle,” which was built in the 14th century as a defensive fortress against Ottoman attacks. Continuing on our way, we will visit the historic and uniquely beautiful city of Brașov with its famous Gothic-style Black Church. Return to Bucharest. Return to Bucharest.
Today is our last day; we’ll enjoy breakfast, and since our flight is in the afternoon, we’ll have time for one last stroll through Bucharest. Next, we’ll visit the famous Primăverii, the legendary residence of Nicolae Ceaușescu, one of the most unique and talked-about landmarks in the Romanian capital. The luxurious villa, where he and his family lived for about 25 years, reveals through its impressive halls, ornate salons, marble, crystal chandeliers, and golden details, the opulence and grandeur of an entire era. You will be impressed by the stories surrounding the home of Romania’s most controversial leader and gain a firsthand understanding of an important aspect of the country’s modern history. After our visit to Ceaușescu’s residence, we’ll board our bus and head to the airport for our return flight, filled with beautiful images and unique experiences from summer in Bucharest.
